Dev Log — August 2023
Added 2023-08-01 10:56:13 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
I continue to work on moving the avatars into the new version 2 system that will support the dynamic avatars and in many ways pave the way towards a much better avatar system that will be used in the future.
Because of some differences between the two systems, I have decided to make the current avatars support the new system as well, instead of simply falling back to the old system. This means that already with the next system, profiles and inspect summaries will be upgraded to show a more detailed and flexible overview of characters!
Sexual Skills
The next update will introduce dildos and other sex toys into the game, and after much thought, I have decided that the game should have proper skills related to sexual activities and not just magical schools. For instance, you are currently able to train your anal skills in the game by using a butt plug, which is a hidden trait for your character, and with the introduction of the PvE overhaul, I'd like to introduce tutors who can make you even better at anal activities by teaching you the skill.
Progressing the skill might also give your orifices kinky and magical properties, adapting your body to better provide other people with pleasure; a useful skill for some PvE challenges. The introduction of dildos will allow you to train deepthroating, which will allow you to take larger oral insertions, much like using plugs will allow you to take larger anal insertions. Being skilled at these acts in real life requires training and patience, and I think the game should reflect that as well.
Glyphs and Seals
In preparation for the PvE overhaul, I have also taken a closer look at glyphs and seals (formerly passive skills, but changed not to be confused with skills), which are how you will be able to customize your character specialization in the future. Some of you may have noticed the focus in the inspect window, and in the future, you will be allowed to equip a 9th item, which will be a held item that acts as your focus. This could be a wand, feather duster, ornamental sword, or possibly something more lewd like a sex toy, which is also vulnerable to conjuration.
Instead of boosting your character's stats, the stats on your focus will affect which glyphs you are able to select for your character, as most glyphs require your focus to have a specific stat. Say, having a focus with Strength and Resistance will allow you to select glyphs that require either Strength, Action, Body, or Resistance, so having the right combination of stats on a focus can be crucial in combining certain glyphs for your build, as you won't be able to match an Action glyph with a Resistance glyph unless your focus has either Strength + Resistance or Willpower + Action.
The power of most glyphs will also scale with its associated stat on the focus, meaning having a particularly powerful focus, even though it doesn't give you a stat bonus, can be much more important for the power of your build. I like this since in most MMOs and RPGS having a high-quality weapon is more important than having a high-quality armor or accessory of some sort, and it gives players who might not have the time to build a perfect equipment set something to, well, focus on!
Glyph examples:
- Chance to reflect spells back at the caster.
- Chance to deflect attacks back at the attacker.
- Disease Immunity (Prevents hucow and any future diseases. Useful because all passive skills are account-wide and it allows you to gain immunity to any diseases on a new character before you have a chance to get a cure)
- Global stat increases (% or linear)
- Maximum Body becomes 1. Mind cannot be penetrated.
- Your attacks always hit. You cannot deal critical damage.
- When you attack, you gain Body.
- When you cast a spell, you gain Mind.
- Inflict Seduce on others when you hit them with a spell.
- While below 50% Body you gain bonus Evasion. Otherwise, you gain bonus Hit.
- Inflict -Evasion on others on hit.
- Increases critical damage.
- Increases suppression (suppression prevents mental changes and effects)
- After consecutive attacks without missing or glancing, you gain a stat boost for a short period of time.
As you can probably tell from the examples, there will be passive skills themed around any of the secondary stats, which can allow you to benefit more from that stat, change your build in interesting ways around the stat, or simply boost the stat. I expect each character will have 2 glyph slots.
Seals
Seals are additional glyphs that have separate slots in the focus. Unlike other glyphs, seals provide no real gameplay advantage. Instead, seals are designed around improving your content experience. As such, a seal can make you immune to specific transformation effects, or make NPCs more likely to change you in a particular way. For instance, you might be interested in inanimate or anthro content, but you dislike being turned into shoes and dogs, and there will be a seal for preventing each of those. Each character will likely have a total of 4 seal slots, meaning you cannot disable all sub-content of a content group, but you will be able to disable the ones you dislike the most or increase the likelihood of the PvE bad endings you enjoy.
An editor is joining the team
In September the team will be joined by a professional games writer and editor who have worked on Rune Scape and some other really big titles I cannot disclose. They will help in making sure the game's upcoming PvE content will be well-written and flawless! They will also assist in making some more colorful descriptions for spells, some items, and similar, though they will mostly be acting as an editor for the game.
That's all for this month's dev log! Thank you all for your support and I hope you're looking forward to the many character customization improvements! ❤️
Cheers,
Tinon
