I'm not trying to convice you, but I want put in my 2 cents for @umedrop as I don't agree with your sentiment. I think the Tiele plot could be marked as interlude chapters, and could maybe be tightened. However, I am invested in the characters and quite curious to see how it will resolve. And for this story, I think its love for and willingness to engage with the real historical and cultural context of its setting has been one of its main appeals from the beginning and is what makes it stand out.

The Tiele plot makes me fall asleep and outside of that, we have slice of life encounters or experimental stuff like this chapter - which didn't work for me. Maybe you enjoy inserting all these cultural tidbits, but imo they mostly distract from the story. Unless something actually happens soon, I'm dropping this.
