2023-06-25 07:54:47 +0000 UTCThanks for the question! Long answer ahead: There is a tribute trade system in the Wu Dynasty, but it's not quite what was seen in the actual Tang Dynasty, given that the Eastern Turkic Khaganate is still standing strong and thus China would not have political domination over Central Asia. However, they would have some more influence with countries along the 河西走廊/Hexi Corridor, and depending on how strong the military is at any given time, there may or may not be tribute trade with smaller countries in that sphere of influence as seen in the preceding dynasties. However, the Wu Dynasty, similar to the Tang Dynasty, would also have the Maritime Silk Road, so there would be tribute-trade with Silla (a Korean kingdom) and Japan, as well as smaller kingdoms in the Northeast. Note that the Wu Dynasty, unlike the Tang, would not have invaded Goguryeo (a Korean kingdom) because they still have the Gokturks (Khaganate) to worry about. Emperor Taizong of Tang only started considering an invasion of Goguryeo after the Khaganate threat had been taken care of.

Probably the last thing the dowager wants though. Another question, since it hasn’t come up: Does this dynasty/ magical version of China operate the tribute trade system?
