SO!

I wanted to make this tutorial since long time ago!

Because I see 90 % of people struggling when trying to destroy something more elaborated then the default cube or a sphere.
And In most cases people gives up, and everytime I would like to say "ehy, you just need to check the few things shown in this tutorial ! "

Basicly when you try to fracture an object that has complex geometry, you have first to fix the things shown in the video (mesh preparation).
Otherwise you will meet all the common problems such as:
- wrong fracturing
- "rocks" popping out from the model that makes no sense

- exploding rigid bodies when you just play the animation

- glitches in the phisics

- unfixable holes

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTE: When tweaking the boolean options like shown in the video at minute 5:55, sometimes the "self intersection" doesnt fix the problem. If that happens, activate instead the "hole tolerant" option (and turn off the self intersection option).

I hope this will be helpful, and I hope to see amazing results from you!

Ehy Blaek! Multiple thoughts about that: 1) usually you see the fractures before the break only in the viewport, try switching to render preview and they should be (almost) invisible 2) if still not happy, you can animate the visibility for the render of the chunks (both high and low poly) and the original non-fractured mesh 3) and easier way to hide the fracture: tweak the light. Sometimes its just that the light is emphasize the cracks too much before the break. Glad to see you are doing this tutorial, share your results when you get some!

Hey! How to make the building look normal and non fractured before the actual fracturing happens?

Blaek Creative

happy to hear that, I will watch your progresses there !

Raffo VFX

Totally going to use this on a building I've made!!
