Soul-Touched Progress Report

It's been a while since I last posted about the OC books. I've been quiet, but a vast majority of my writing time has been spent here. I also reworked the cover; it hasn't gone public yet, but I wanted to create a unified theme within the designs that could be carried over between books, making them more recognizable. Having the main girl on the cover screams "Harem". I don't like to consider myself a harem author, and would argue that what I write is closer to Playboy than Harem, but I may be delusional.

Shortly, I'll update the cover on Amazon, update the blurb, and get to my Author profile there. Soul Taker's KU period ends on the 23rd. If I don't see any boost from the changes, I might pull it off and put it back up here and go wide for a time to try that out. This is my first book book, so there's a lot of trial and error for me when it comes to publishing.

The goal is 3 books per year. But four would be ideal. This is a lot, but at the same time, doable. In 2024, I put out all of Rogue Arc 5 & 6, Star Jumper S1 and half of S2, and The Devil's Villain. In 2025 (including scheduled posts), I'll put out Rogue Arc 7 & 8, the other half of Star Jumper S2 and S3, and Meteor Freak. And Soul Taker on top of that.

Progress report:

Soul Seeker: 162k - First Draft Complete
Soul Hunter: 77k - About halfway through the First Draft

I wanted to get a rough draft done before I started posting chapters. I'll be putting out some soon, but I'm doing so well in the writing that I don't want to lose my flow to focus on editing. The early parts of Soul Seeker are heavily drawn from the early parts of Rogue and will need several editing passes, but I pushed through that quickly so I could get out the newer writing that made up the bulk of the book. Soul Touched was supposed to be a fantasy retelling of Rogue, but it's blossomed into its own work.

Soul Taker - Book 1 was only drawn from the first few chapters of Rogue.
Soul Seeker - Book 2 was drawn from most of Arcs 1-3, which is why it's so long.
Soul Hunter - Book 3 was inspired by Arcs 3 and 4.

The story diverged significantly from the original Rogue content. You'll recognize some of it, but there's so much new stuff. At this point, it's more of a nod to Rogue or a reimagining than a rewrite. Book 2 began with heavily edited Rogue content that I likely need to rewrite significantly when it comes time to edit. But Book 3 includes no writing or dialogue from Rogue.
