Well what a few days these have been.

I genuinely did not expect to ever hit that goal, and here we are at it already. I thought, at best, that the new video would be bring in another hundred or two dollars worth of pledges. I thought there were a few people that didn't know about the patreon. Turns out there were a lot more than that.

I can't say thank you enough. I could spend the rest of this post saying it over and over. I have a lot of messages, I don't know if I can get to them all, but you'll be hearing thank you again if I do. This response has been overwhelming. When the pledges came flooding in my wife and I thought we were being outrageous with our new prediction of 2300 a month. We're almost a thousand over that now.

There won't be another pledge goal. At least not for a while. I'd have to think of some sort of expansion or new project I could do that justifies it. I have some ideas/dreams but those will be a ways off.

So what does hitting this goal really mean?

Well, we're going to get the ball rolling on moving out of the city and to a house far away from Toronto. It would take years of savings to afford a house in the city and we're not sure if we even want to stay here anyway. Working online means we can live pretty much anywhere as long as the internet is decent, so we have a lot of flexibility. Houses are a lot cheaper outside of the big cities.

This is going to take a while but it might happen a lot sooner than we ever expected. A lot has to happen--meetings with the bank, traveling to view some places, and then moving. We have two dogs so we'll have to sort something out with them. Same goes for moving two kids. The list goes on and you get the idea. It's looking likely to happen now though.

After that's finished I'll have an "office" for work, rather than sitting in the living with my kids stomping and throwing things like they are right now. A separate space means I can properly soundproof it for recording during the day. That also means I can start streaming and doing some social things like podcasts. Or interviews, I guess. I don't know if anyone would even want to interview with me though.

Obviously this can't happen overnight but the process to make it so will begin.

It's also possible at this level of support that I could travel to some conventions and the like. Probably with my wife and kids along for the trip. We've never gone on vacation before, and the little one will have to be a bit older for it to work, but it's something we can consider.

For now I'm into the next few videos already. Organizing this move won't take up much time until we're actually physically moving. At which point there may be a week or two where things are unstable--moving, setting up internet, etc. That's likely months away though, but it'll come with some streams and faster recording afterward.
