Part of what gives humanity tunnel vision that prevents us from seeing things broadly is our social structures and life expectancy. If there's a pursuit that doesn't result in a clear ability to fulfill a human within their lifetime (make money, improve quality of life, etc.) they're likely to ignore it. A.I. benefits from being excluded from both.
