2020-08-14 16:17:06 +0000 UTCI grew up in the shadow of the cold war. I watched the idiotic film strips and did the drills where we hid under our desks. As absurd as that was, it is perhaps more absurd that we now have basically forgotten what is still entirely possible. What's worse, military funding for the nuclear arsenal declines because "times have changed" leading to maintenance lapses, etc. It will be entirely fitting that our extinction will more than likely be from our own carelessness.
