This is a super stripped down demo of what goes down in my lead and follow thought process.
Lead & Follow notes come up often so I wanted to give you guys a quick simple breakdown.
You can take this as far and as subtle as you want depending on what you're going for in terms of energy or what idea you want to convey.
If I think of lead&follow just in physicality and pushing it very far, I'm thinking to the level of looney tunes or maybe Hotel T. When you dial that down, you'll see it in all your favorite animated movies/shows where you start feeling it more than just seeing it.
But this lead & follow principle can go deep into even subtle acting shots where you think about how a thought process can lead your expressions, then lipsync, then body and etc. There are so many ways to break this down but I hope that you guys are constantly thinking about how this concept can apply to your animation in various ways!
