We had seen this, that pink mist that first got Pacifica, and that technological energy that effected Soos's phone. Most likely the entity from the first page is creating multiple ways to spread its influence over the town.

Also the boy bands dialogue is perfect since they probably never even heard the word sex in their lives since they are always just cloned. Looking forward to what happens next especially with dipper and the girls.
