State of The Weekend

With the latest release I thought I'd do a quick(ish) summary of where I'm at, development-wise, for The Weekend.  This is going to be super spoiler-heavy, and is a bit of a peek behind the curtain!  So if you have any illusions that I'm a genius and have any idea what I'm doing, you might want to skip this post too ;)

Raw Stats: 289,319 words, 1975 Twine passages, 7 potential orgasms (approximate).

Main branches

1) Sophie's party: Still the most complete branch so far, done up until going to sleep on Saturday night (except for sub-branches where Casey leaves the party).  Endpoints are:

• Asleep on the couch with Sophie and Tim.
• Asleep in a guest room alone.
• Asleep outside with Tim.
• Asleep in a guest room with Tim and Pavel.
• Asleep in Sophie's room.
• Left the party with Paulo.
• Going back to Amelia's house with Sophie.

2) Confronted Rosa: Close to complete for Saturday, just need some wrap-up.  However, this is the conclusion for adventure with Tobias, stay home with Amelia main branches, as well as leaving Sophie's party with her and Tobias.  So there will be a lot of branches off here depending on how Casey got there.  "Alone" endpoints could be from any of the three branches, while Sophie and Tobias endpoints are specific to their paths, respectively.  Endpoints are:

• Alone, completed the ritual.
• Alone, changed back to male.
• Alone, stayed female.
• With Tobias, Casey changed back to male.
• With Tobias, Casey changed back to male and Tobias changed to female.
• With Tobias, Casey stayed female.
• With Sophie, Casey changed back to male.
• With Sophie, Casey stayed female.

3) Avoided island: This is a relatively new sub-branch that I added.  Not sure exactly where it's going yet.  My tentative plan is to have one endpoint link to "Left the party with Paulo" somehow.

• Wandering alone.
• Following the group of girls.

4) On Elias' yacht: needs Saturday resolution for two main endpoints.  This branch has always been a bit behind the others.  Endpoints:

• Escaping with Paulo
• Preparing for the ball alone.
• Preparing for the ball with Anna.

Conclusion

We're getting close!  There's still a lot to do, but I feel like we're closer to the end than the beginning.  I am nervous about branch #3, because other than meeting up with Paulo I don't have any concrete or even loose plans there.  Also, I will probably need to revisit the Rosa scenes and add more conclusions, because I want Casey to be able to end up there with Anna from the yacht.  Also, more art is needed for all paths on Saturday.  But other than that I feel pretty good about where the game is at, and I'm looking forward to finishing it.  I've learned a ton working on this project, and I'm looking forward to applying that knowledge to future projects :)
