Insecurity in clay
Added 2024-02-01 17:37:40 +0000 UTCWe all must discover and come to terms with our own bodies and personal insecurities both physical and mental throughout our lives. Whether they are removed, explored or dealt with through your own self harm, societal norms, environmental influences or personal bias we must face them head on. Eventually as we all do, we must allow others in to help us heal, develop and build ourselves up. Sometimes these are people who can create, sometimes they destroy. Life is messy and must be explored even if it scares us.
Like clay, if a section is destroyed by someone careless it can be fixed. If a gouge is made it can be filled and smoothed. If dropped and shattered with patience and love it can be put back together. Left and ignored to dry and weather it can be hydrated and restored.
Even if the clay is broken vindictively to a point where repair seems impossible, all we need in life is to find the person who will give their time, effort, care and concern. Their fingers will bleed from sifting and placing each shattered piece, they will earn scars on the way, at times they will be frustrated and overwhelmed by the task. But ultimately, they will never give up on the project. By the time the clay is repaired they will both be scarred and not who they were when they started, but instead will be something new and more beautiful than before. Life’s version of kintsugi but instead of gold it is the connection between us that bonds.
Even when you have created yourself in the image you pursue you are still faced by the issue of other people's visions. Even when you have built the perfect version of yourself you will always be seen by others through their eyes, different opinions, colour deficiencies, fears and jealousies.
No matter what you think you should be to the world, someone will always find a reason to complain or comment. All we can do is be the person we want to be and fuck everyone else.
