Not everything needs to be big and stompy. Small units can be key to winning strategies, which is why we want to take a look at some of the lighter units that your armies will have inside the Broken Truth 2 Player battle box. This week we reveal the the Saurian Starhost Gecko Cohorts, and The Robot Legions Robot Swarms.

Check out the latest update & reveals on the Gamefound page

MiniWargaming have released a new video that features Ratmen and Daemons of War with large 2000 point armies that face off against each other. Will the Ratmen horde overwhelm the daemons? Or will the daemons ambushing from the rift break apart the ranks of of the disciplined rats?

Check out the MiniWargaming Battle Report here

Haunt Wargaming also pits the Ratmen versus the War Daemons in a preview battle report that plays through the first Mission for the Last Tear. Kedseit and Vacnip take on Ironpride in this battle to stop the menace at the border to the Ratmen city.

Watch the first mission to the Last Tear played out here

At the top of post, you'll see some early previews of the what we are working on for March!

In March Human Defense Force Munitioner comes bearing gifts for his units in the form of every available type of ammunition they desire, improving their effectiveness against heavier armored units. HDF Walkers are heavily armored mobile platforms made for taking on larger threats to humanity. The Tactical Walker is equipped with an arsenal of heavy ranged firepower, taking out targets from afar while protected by it's own mass. The Combat Walker uses it's bulk as a weapon, employing energy weapons and close range firepower to disturb beyond enemy lines.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models and not the final versions of the models.

That's it for this week, happy wargaming!

If i'm not mistaken we're still missing the Giant Beetle with the crew

samuel thilinghast

I'm also a fan of the robots being included in the HDF, especially since their aesthetically differentiates from other mechanical presences.

Bacour

There's definitely a mix of influences going on. And I should say, everything we're receiving is of excellent technical quality and attention to detail. It's just not my personal vision of the army should look like. That being said, OPR is certainly making a strong effort to distinguish themselves aesthetically and bring their own vision to the products they're delivering.

Bacour

I thought they where going for a Hell Divers look, especially with the capes on the Storm Troopers

CasualT

Are we still waiting on units from January and February?

Shadow fund

are we going to get more starhosts any time soon

Doom shadow wolf

are we going to see any aircraft for the HDF before we move to Orcs? IF not, will we see them as titans/rewards?

Billy

I'm pretty content with the way the walkers are turning out as well. My biggest criticism of the HDF so far is that I wish the Storm Troopers had a version without capes.

Forrest Wentworth

The Munitioneer is much better. The last couple HDF have been looking more like Brotherhood/Halo. This is a solid, "everyman" soldier who's fighting from the trenches, not a Michael Bay extra dressed by Calvin Klein.

Bacour

True. In my opinion though, these bots represent mass industrial manufacturing of military assets. So it would make sense to pick a design and stick too it. Also, if I had to guess, OPR is trying not to step on the toes of other companies and their mechs. Specifically companies that like to scream copyright infringement any chance they get

Russell Byerley

Love the mech. The one previewed in januari looken nice too, but thisone is Great!

Viktor Östman-Carlson

You're not wrong Pacific rim is a really good universe to pull from the bigger issue I think they had is that all of the robot units pretty much look the same. There's nothing super distinct about them. The ogre units also look very reminiscent of another factions heavy robot. Like in Pacific rim you could tell the difference in the robot fighting style or cultural significance that played a part in its design.

Shadow fund

show them printed.

spoonweasle

Totally understand, I guess the lack of view is from my end via Discord. Ultimately I know design choices like this aren't made just willy nilly, and are often made because the end product doesn't end up feeling the same as the concept art and you have to pivot. I hope the feedback on this post doesn't make your team shy away from concept art sharing, because regardless it was a cool art to see.

Jilo Metson

I think I'm in the minority here..but I love the walkers! Remind me a lot of Pacific Rim Jaegers which isn't a bad thing! I wouldn't mind doing a walker/Grunt army with a few Humans as controllers. Maybe use the Psy-Hacker for that since it looks techy.

Russell Byerley

Thanks for providing the extra clarification. I do truly appreciate the clarity and the promise on delivering models you are proud of. And while I totally get that things change from concept art to deliverable, I can’t help but feel that this model is still a copy, paste and enlarge of the light walker. I believe some additional effort in making it more visually different from this previously released model would go a long way.

Jake

We would've loved to stick with the original concept when we did our first walker (tactical titan), and we gave it many tries to make it work, but it simply didn't look good. Trust me when I say that we wish that we could've kept that original design as much as you, but the result was looking horrendous and not something anybody would've liked (if you're curious, check discord for screenshots, it looked like a terrible robot version of MODOK). We shared some screenshots of it on discord and informed people multiple times via our streams that the walkers had to change since November, and that we were only still sharing the concept art to give a general sense of the direction of the walker (combat walker being a melee walker, tactical walker being a shooty walker, etc). We're always a bit hesitant in showing off concept art exactly for this reason, and are re-thinking our approach to sharing our process, because we don't want to generate this type of disappointment. Ultimately, we apologize for having shown you a concept that looked more unique than what you got, but we believe that our walkers still look very cool in their own right, and hope you feel it's worth to get them like this anyway. :)

Yeah look I don't like to post and complain but yeah, the tactical walker concept looked amazing and was excited to print several of these and then just get an enlarged grunt? pretty disappointed. This also brings up the point of, if your going so far from the concept what will happen in the future? i feel that concepts are nothing to get excite about now and is more of a gamble on what we actually get.

Yes! The headless design and baggage on the shoulders really made it more unique!

Jake

Gotta echo the same sentiment as commenters below, the original Tactical Walker concept art was so cool especially with the baggage on the shoulders.

Jilo Metson

Agreeing with the others on the thread, would love to see the models stick more to the concept art (and you have excellent concept art). We've gone from a really unique looking walker model in concept to one that looks rather samey to the others here.

Ryan Rieder

I'm with the others. Please keep the models as similar as possible to the concept art. It's not the first time that an awaited model deluded me when it comes to concept art vs model itself

Alessandro Giuliani

Think the Combat Walker turned out excellent, but compare the tactical walker to the light walker and it’s hard to see a difference. I echo others’ sentiments that the concept art on the tactical walker was much more unique and exciting than the model’s current renders!

Jake

Please stick to your beautiful concept art! As already mentioned I hope these are more modular than the light walker

Wulfmundr

100% agree on this! Please do not stray from the concept art! These just look like light walkers with different guns.

Wulfmundr

The Tactical Walker looked way better in its concept art, this one looks just like a carbon copy of the others. Hopefully this one will at least be more modular than the Light Walker.
