So, my laptop died. (Update)

Yeah, the streak of bad luck continues.

After my chair literally falling apart, and my headphones dying on me, it turns out my laptop is next. For the past few weeks, there has been a weird smell coming from it, however, even after opening it up multiple times, I couldn't figure out what exactly it was. It was very worrying, but I could not see anything, and I had work to do, so I kept on going, making frequent backups in the process.

Today, it turns out that my GPU has died. Not the pins, not the cables connecting it, the actual GPU. If I turn the laptop on, the screen will flash with green pixels and lines and occasionally just cut to black. I can barely navigate it cause my cursor doesn't actually match what is happening on screen. Sometimes it also turns itself off entirely.

My files have been backed up, and I can still access my hard drive at least. But after some help inspecting it and troubleshooting, it is definitely dead.

What now?

Well, after calming down a bit, I set up a bit of a plan.

• Making sure I can finish my work is my #1 priority. I am currently setting up my dad's old laptop so I can hopefully at least draw and finish this month's rewards. It's slow as heck, but I'll have to make do!

• I was planning on opening up padoru commissions again next month. Those did quite well last year. I have no idea if things will go just as well this year, but I'm hoping for a similar turnout. I was planning on saving up money with those for a new PC. If my dad's old laptop works well enough for art, this plan will remain the same.

• Depending on how things go, I might have to pause Patreon next month. Padoru chibis are one thing, but I don't know if I'll be able to do the usual rewards on this thing.

And that's... Pretty much what I got currently. This situation sucks, and I won't lie, mega stressful. I apologize for potential delays in rewards. I still have a few finished works that I'll be posting soon, but after that it might be silent for a while. I'm going to be looking for a solution asap, and might end up loaning some money from my family for a replacement, but like I said, my first priority is getting this month's work finished. I will make sure to keep you all updated.

Thank you for reading my big rambly post 😅
