UNLAND is Up

Hello Partons!

The last few weeks have been super-busy. For the past couple years my wife and I have been planning a major remodel of our house. And after more setbacks than I can count, we have finally begun. Basically, 1/3 of our house, including the kitchen and my gameroom have been gutted. New floors, knocking out some walls, whole new kitchen (our old one was a perfect time-capsule of 1977, save for the dishwasher and fridge).

So we had to move every item from one side of the house to the other, and we're living in a cramped maze of boxes, furniture, plastic tarps, and oh, so much dust. Hopefully it will go somewhere close to the estimated timeline (yeah, right. We were supposed to have started in September), and we'll return to normal in a couple weeks.

Needless to say, recording this video was tricky, as there is very little room and I have to work around the worker schedules, as it is kinda loud. Next one I think I'm going to try hitting up a buddy and using his office to record. I'm sure that by the time I've figured out a good system the work will be done and I can return to normal.

Top that all off, I got what I'm 95% sure was food poisoning Saturday Night. So if I look particularly withered in this video, it's not just the lights. I'm feeling much better now, but still pretty worn.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy the review video. I'll be posing it for the general public Wednesday.

Thank you for all your support.

-Seth

Oops, I just read your comments on your page; where you mention to pitch a game if you want a review. So, here is my pitch. They both are set in worlds that are dark. I've seen you mention that you like this kind of thing so I think your group probably does. Also, Forbidden Lands has a very interesting dice rolling mechanism. It is very easy (both of the games are much more rules light than D&D 5th Edition) and the results of the roll can have interesting after affects. Much like the Fantasy Flight system used in their Star Wars games. I like the way a dice roll can affect the future as well as the current situation. Thanks again.

Food poisoning is a mess. Glad you are feeling better. I really enjoyed your look at Modiphius' Conan game. You come at things from a very practical point of view which is very valuable. Where I am headed with this is all the releases that Free League has issued. Do you have any plans to look at any of their games? I'm particularly interested in "Forbidden Lands" and "Symbaroum". Thanks for listening!

Really enjoyed this, Seth, and glad to see you’re recovered from food poisoning, which also knocked me out this week. Can’t believe there are so many ideas in a FIVE PAGE scenario? If Scott pitched this to Blumhouse as a movie they’d bite his hand off I’m sure - you made it sound so cinematic! Gonna pick this up right away. Good luck with the remodelling! And watch out for the waltzers and dodgems (or whatever you guys call them 😂)

There's always the surprise when you start ripping through walls. Right now our time-scale is being thrown off because when we removed the kitchen soffits to make room for our larger cabinets, we discovered that 40 years ago the A/C guy trimmed a slight corner by having the lines go through that space. So we can't install cabinets until we have an A/C guy come out and re-route the line. Had the original dude simply moved the line 4 inches to the right, it wouldn't have mattered, as the compromised cabinet would be that weird dead-space in a corner, and we'd write it off. We also discovered a phantom A/C duct. So wednesday the A/C guy is going to tell us what all we can do and how much of a pain in the ass it's going to be.

That ain't no joke.

Good luck, man. Construction dust is the worst!

I feel for you. I recently had some minor home repair done (fixing a leaky pipe, plus replacing the drywall they had to cut into to *reach* the pipe) and even that felt like it took forever and screwed up my whole routine, so I can just imagine how disruptive this must be. Thanks for persevering and getting out a new video, always appreciated!

Perhaps, in memory, you could remodel it in the style of the Mos Eisley cantina 👽

And didn't age half as well.

Dude, you're kitchen was as old as Star Wars 🚀

Hope the remodel goes swift and smooth!
