New Video and Update

I managed to finish the next video in the middle of this ultra-busy week/weekend (it's 3:45 in the morning and I am going to hate tomorrow). I've been asked for a while if I can do a 'New GM Tips' type of video, so that's what I did. Enjoy. I plan to post it public on July 5th.
In other news, I've started playing in a Traveller campaign with Glass Cannon. It should begin airing in Mid-July I believe. So far all we've done is the character creation episode, but over the next 2 months we'll be doing 9-10 more sessions with it. I'm really looking forward to storming the galaxy with them.
Last weekend I made it up to SoonerCon in Oklahoma. It was a treat getting to see a lot of the people I haven't seen since 2019. It was also fun to getting to interact with people and meet a few fans that were there. Next month is GenCon, which is about 20-times bigger, and I'm looking forward to that. If any of you are planning on being there, hit me up.
Finally, my channel is SOOO close to the 100,000 Subscriber mark. At the moment it's at 99,769. I had a surge of new subscribers with when I hit 99K, and foolishly thought it would continue int 100K, but as is the norm, the surge dropped to crawl as it got closer to the goal. Hopefully I'll pass 100K soon and can enjoy a few blessed weeks not thinking about it.
Anyway, that is it for now.
OK, there was that part where I was involved in a DVD Commentary last week. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to disclose about that until the distributor announces it, so all I can say is that there will be a notoriously bad movie getting a long-awaited DVD release soon, and among the special features is me and a few RPG podcasters having drinks and making fun of it. I'm really curious how the finished product is going to sound and if or how much they might have edited. Don't worry. Once I know I'm officially allowed to discuss it, I'll tell you all about it.

As always you provide the best advice as, “it depends.” The part that resonated with me the most is that generally speaking, and with room for nuance, more preparation is better than less preparation. I think there are a lot of people out there presenting emergent gameplay is basically an excuse to not do any work as a game master. In all the different systems, genres, settings, tones, and player groups I have GMed for or played in over the years, the one constant I’ve seen is that GMs who put in time and effort with prep usually succeed more in having lasting, fun Campaigns than those who do not.
