Happy Wednesday, everyone.
<Wednesday? This shows how out of it I am>
It has been busy the last few days. I managed to knock out my next RPG vid by staying up until 4am. It's about writing the opening scene to campaign and addresses the common "wisdom" of why you shouldn't start in a tavern. I plan to post it up tomorrow some time.
In other news, the Q-Workshop Icons dice are about to open for pre-order next week. We'd hoped to open it up this Friday, but Q-Workshop had some delay and moved it back to next Wednesday. However they did send me some dice which came in yesterday, so that was neat. Now I got to come up with a video, shoot, edit, and post it next Wednesday. Which translates to, "There went my weekend."
As far as the dice themselves, the set is 10 dice. There's the classic 7 (I was informed I HAD to include a D12 because evidently some games use those). It also has a second D6, but instead of a cube, it's a 12-sided D6, which rolls a lot better than a cube (again, I was told that I HAD to have a cubic D6 because experience taught them that some people might not buy a set that lacked a familiar die). The 12-sided D6 is awesome and I love it. Depending on how the initial run sells, Q-Workshop might sell them individually so people can get more. Finally, there's 2 additional D00s, because in Call of Cthulhu, with Double-Bonus/Penalty dice, you might need to roll three D00s. The extra 2 are a different color. Reason being is that I've learned that if they're all the same color and you're grabbing some dice to make a skill roll, you (or at least I) often grab two D00s instead of a D10 and D00 and roll that. So I want the extra D00s to stand out at a glance. Sadly, they didn't go with my request for a carboard cutout chicken foot. Evidently some corners of the world already get testy and send complaint letters if there's "occult" symbols on dice, and a voodoo-looking chicken's foot might cause actual problems for them in some regions. Price will be $25. They'll also be available as dice skins on Foundry VTT, but sadly the 12-sided D6 won't be there because Foundry doesn't support variant shapes no matter how awesome they are.
In other news, I'll be heading to ChaosimCon April 7th. I'll get to play a couple games, am on 1 panel so-far, and will be mostly wandering around and trying not to look too awkward. If any of you are coming, let me know before I leave and I'll reserve some dice for you.
That is it for now. Thank you for all your support, everyone. Have a great day.
-Seth
