Hi everyone. I've been assembling the next video (Traveller Space Combat) and figured a few of you might like to see what it looks like on the Back Half.
As you may have noticed, my videos tend to be image-heavy. I find pictures more interesting to look at than just my talking head. They also hide the fact that 95% of my dialogue I'm reading and I'm always glancing back at my script to be sure I don't miss anything. So, prior to recording, I make image slides. They're all cropped and pretty and ready to drop in the video during the Editing Phase. I make them both before and during the process of organizing/writing the script (that's the black Power Point you can see in the bottom row).
So here's the images for the nex vid. Often during the final edit I'll come up with a few more to add, but the great bulk are done in advance. Right now it's at 266 images. Most vids run 60-80 images, but How-To Rules vids have a lot more, as I'm trying to walk viewers through a technical process.
Next is the script. I write them as Power Point slides. These appear on a laptop I place directly below my camera. During the video recording I flip through them with a little remote control. I color the text in alternating white and yellow to help my eyes locate and keep track of my place so I can look at the camera and still know roughly where I am in the script when I glance back down. Most vids run about 90 slides long. Sometimes as few as 50, with others going up to 110. Again, being a technical vid, this one is running a lot longer at 161 slides (at a guess, I'm assuming the next vid will run 45-50 minutes).
I've finished recording and editing the Jack Bits and should be recording the regular portion this weekend. After that, Editing, where I simply drop in all the pre-made images and Jack segments as I go.
Anyway, that's what all the pre-work looks like before I begin recording.
Thanks for your support.
