Spring Update

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another long-awaited Patreon Deluge update! We have made it all the way to June, the mid-point of 2017 so I definitely owe you guys an update!

The progress of the 2.0 release has not been quite as fast-paced as I planned but I have been working hard behind the scenes on many different aspects of the project with varied successes and setbacks. I also hope you understand that although this is the only project that I work on, I am not always in the position to dedicate my time and energy to it.

Deluge 1.3 Release

There have been two new release of the 1.3 code this year in order to fix some major issues including several WebUI security bugs. Improvements that are made here in both code and packaging are passed onto the development work so should end up with a more streamlined release process overall.

Windows 2.0 (pre-release) builds

I know many Windows users would like to see a pre-release package unfortunately it takes an order of magnitude more work to sort this out.

For example I have been attempting to build the latest version of Gtk2 as the one we ship has known issues. However I have hit quite a few dead-ends try different compilers and build steps so will have to stick with the existing version for now (as shipped with 1.3).

Once I have the build process for libtorrent on Windows sorted out I shall be looking to do a pre-release of some description (alpha and/or beta).

Python 3

In terms of Python 3, I have unfortunately found the Twisted framework still has modules that are not entirely compatible and will require a lot more investigation and fixes. Therefore I have put that code branch on hold until upstream fixes appear.

Icons

I have been working on a new icon set to cleanup the Deluge droplet icon. Any thoughts/input on this process is welcome, in the Development forum post below:

And Finally

The actual code for both libtorrent 1.1 and deluge develop branch are definitely quite stable now. So it is mainly cosmetic fixes and a few features that just need adding to make it a viable full-release.

As ever thank you so much for your pledges, it is very much appreciated and keeps me motivated to push the projects forward. Feel free to comment below...

Thanks so much,

Calum
