Leo wants to have revange for his lost, but he lost in it so much that he doesn't mind carring someone else with him. About Nigel, I think his situation was much harder than Leo's. He has been rejected by his family and this is much worse than lose. This is also a reason why he doesn't trust anyone. Now when he is in this situation right now, something is definitly changing in him. The whole journey, the punishment and his nightmeres made him so much tired of this. He is more like a victim in this story.
