Some of these people have been grinding away at performing improv comedy for quite a while and they still have no sense of timing, of when to let a joke that doesn't work go, or how to interact with their fellow performers. Its like with those Sounds Funny Radio people, I've seen plenty of improv troupes where the people perform awkwardly together, and they've been working together for years but still come off like they just got together that afternoon.
