Map Creation Process Poll

I'm trying something new and I need to know what you guys think about it.

The past few days I've been diving into DungeonDraft. I've converting a lot of my assets and props, and created some tools for creating walls, cliffs, islands, and terrain. I've also drawn lots of new trees, rocks, boulders, and plants.

The benefit of using this tool is that I can create very large battle maps much faster then drawing them purely by hand, and I can create variations easily. Creating Sea of Thieves or Assassin's Creed Black Flag style islands will be very easy and fast, especially as I create more tools.

But, they are not as unique or bespoke.

Another bonus, I can share these tools with you guys ($5 tier and up) and you can use them to crank out your own maps of islands, towns, & jungles. I'd also create a ship building tool kit (deck, walls, sails, capstans, ship's wheels), and I'd plan to convert the Oceans and Islands pack so we can create Naval Combat scale maps with ease. These assets and tools would also be included in our Commercial Creator License (which we are updating soon to include all tiers) so you could use these tools to make maps for you own adventures and sell them.

Here are two examples. I've added shading, lighting, water edges, and some more details in Photoshop. Finals will be this quality or better.

Before this post, everything I made and use is in Photoshop. But this release contains some assets you can load into DungeonDraft to make your own island maps.

Consider me the noob in the area of Map creators. How do the tools you create work in the whole scheme of things?

Robbie D

You can use the PB tokens and asset in a 5e world, you just need to link to them through your Foundry modules directory!

Limithron

There is no scenario where they go away, so rest assured! I'm thinking two start I'd do one unique each month and one new release with assets plus several maps. But to be honest, if I hate the outcome I will just go back to the all hand drawn ones...

also just writing this comment gave me the inspiration to use the PB character generator to create the pirate NPCs for the ship they're about to try and steal! (I really love Pirate Borg, even if my players are stuck on D&D 5e)

I really enjoy the Unique maps but whatever makes you happy man. I use Foundry for my stuff but I love your work on everything

I love the idea of assets to build our own ships. I have the Naval Combat for 5e and Pirate Borg for Foundry and it's a bit disappointing that I can't seem to use all the cool ships created for Pirate Borg in my 5e game. The Pirate Borg module for Foundry is so amazing! Also, I'm running a predominantly seafaring campaign and I'd love to give the players an updated ship when they modify and update it

Denise Atwood

I wouldn't mind a mix but it would be a real shame if the unique maps go away completely :/
