=====================UPDATE============================

After some focused brainstorming sessions, playtesting, and feedback from the Limithron and Mörk Borg communities, I’m pivoting the scope of the upcoming projects. There are now two projects with two different Kickstarters: PIRATE BORG & THE DARK CARIBBEAN.

PIRATE BORG

The first book is now called PIRATE BORG and it is coming along splendidly. You can preview the first section of the book here in this post. Many people expressed interest in adapting this content to their own settings, so it will no longer be a setting book, and I’m removing elements that tie it to Earth and the Caribbean as well as information about the factions.

PIRATE BORG is a self contained rules-light RPG for running swashbuckling campaigns using Mörk Borg as a framework. Character creation is optimized for random generation (though not required), and during combat all rolls are made by the players: enemies don’t roll to attack, instead PCs roll to defend. Mörk Borg is fun, easy to learn, potentially deadly, and perfect for OSR style one-shots and for campaigns that focus more on player agency and smart decisions and less on character optimization and “what’s on my character sheet”. I’ve also found it is great for theater-of-the-mind style of play, and that it really excels at weird, strange, and dark, perfect for a horror-style pirate campaign.

Rewards are the same for all tiers on this one.

I proudly present the first draft of the rules and character creation guidelines for PIRATE BORG!  Coming to Kickstarter later this year. Sign up here to get notified when it launches.

Limithron patrons get early access to everything, and you get to help me shape the world as part of the Dark Caribbean West Marches style campaign (open to all Patrons), which is kicking off with the 500 Patron Party next Sunday, August 8th… more on that in another post.

If you don’t like Mörk Borg, or aren’t interested, have no fear: much of the art and content in this project will make its way into the upcoming DARK CARIBBEAN 5th Edition book.

Feedback

I would LOVE your feedback on this release. Fill out this form: Playtest Feedback, plus we have dedicated channels in my Discord Server.

Comments

I'm not one to be looking for other rule sets to learn, but my lord, the art and the design and the whole aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous and eye-grabbing, and punk rock as fuck, if i may say.

Seth Millwood

Ah okay. Thanks, I don‘t know.

Thomas

Hey thanks for the feedback. Lwa is actually the preferred spelling for Haitian Vodou, but before I started researching this book I spelled “loa” too! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lwa

Limithron

What I noticed is that it should be Loa and not Lwa by the Vodou Bokor. 😁
