Fix-it comic plot outline (contains Curtis & spoilers for VLD S8 and the fix-it comic!)

IT BEGINS!!! Before this stage, there was lots of thinking and venting and ranting about S8. This idea went through a few different phases.

Initially, this fix-it was a tragedy, because the only change was giving Shiro a deep sense of regret and lost time/opportunity. 

The second phase was a 180 degree change and became a rom-com with Keith's gang of lesbians (Zethrid, Ezor, Acxa (+Veronica just because I like it :3c)) planning and plotting to make Shiro realise his true feelings for Keith before his big mistake wedding! 

It swung back to being angst heavy because I was stuck in my Keith feels and adding on different character perspectives of how heartbroken he was bumming me out too much!

Finally, it coalesced into something of balance, a mix of drama and angst and emotional torture! So I hope you guys are ready!!
For everyone who cannot follow my crazy diagram (and that's everyone 😅) Here's how the story will unfold..

Opens with Keith looking up a wedding band, he's conflicted, confused, unsure.. He reflects back on how this all started.
---
It's their last night on Earth, Shiro makes his speech, 'Spend your last night with the ones you love.'
Keith takes this to heart, tells Shiro that he will be waiting at Black, if Shiro wants to spend tonight together. 
Shiro responds that he will. 
Keith, heart beating skipping, waits with Kosmo.
Night falls.. and Keith waits but Shiro never shows up.
Keith is disheartened... Surely Shiro has just been caught up with work? Kosmo,  sensing the direction of Keith's heart, teleports them to where Shiro is.
As Keith rounds the corner, he sees Shiro k*ssing another man. 
It's like being struck by a bolt, Kosmo feels it rip through Keith, a feeling never felt before, it's agony. Kosmo teleports them away with a whine.
Shiro turns, looking down the empty hallway, wondering because he's sure he saw something.

Curtis POV
It's their last night on Earth, Curtis is walking through the market, thinking about how ~dreamy~ Admiral Shirogane is, maybe he should find something nice to give him as a gift?
An unilu overhears him and has the perfect gift in mind.
The unilu presents to Curtis a brain worm egg.

Kosmo POV
Keith collapses on the bed and buries his face in Kosmo's fur, emotions roiling off him. Kosmo reflects on their time on the space whale, Shiro in Keith's thoughts and heart was a constant comforting presence as Kosmo grew from a pup. Kosmo reflects on that night, and can sense there was something wrong with Shiro. Kosmo huffs and bathes Keith in doggy kisses and Keith laughs, spirits lifted momentarily.

Keith's lesbian gang + Allura POV 
It's clear day and Lotor's generals are on ship, bored and gossiping, they've all noticed Shiro hanging out with another man and are confused because they were pretty sure (like 100% sure) Shiro and Keith were together. They decide to seek out someone who's closer to Keith for the goss.
The intercept Allura before she can absorb the evil space boogey (SAFE!)
After they've explained the situation, Allura notices the similarities between Shiro's uncharacteristic behaviour and Coran's behaviour when he had a brain worm. It's decided that Bibobi will be contacted to extract the worm before Shiro, the ATLAS' Admiral, can do serious harm when not acting in his right mind.
Everyone else comes back from clear day and Romelle bursts into the room.
'Shiro is getting married to someone NEXT WEEK and retiring to stay on Earth!!'
Everyone is shocked, it's much worse than they first thought.

Krolia POV
'Shiro is getting married to someone next week and retiring to stay on Earth.'
Krolia hears the crack in Keith's voice and embraces him. She doesn't know Shiro well enough to know what happened but if Shiro has made his choice to stay grounded, Keith should come away with her, many people in space could really use his help.
He accepts her offer.

Before the Wedding
All the guests are arriving, Shiro has inviting everyone, Bibobi is among them and even Slav! Shiro is greeting everyone and Bibobi extracts the worm triumphantly. Allura and Keith's gang observing subtly. 
However, there's no dramatic change.
Keith has left telling Shiro his decision up until the last moments before the wedding, but when he does, he gets a non-reaction. Keith didn't know what he was expecting but his stomach swoops.
Allura and the gang are in shock, did it not work? is it because Shiro is human and to Altaen? Is it permanent?!

During the wedding
The celebrant is getting towards the end of the ceremony. Keith and Allura and Lotor's generals watch shocked/heartbroken from the crowd.
'If anyone should object to this union, speak now.'
'I do.'
It's Shiro, he's the one who objected.

Shiro's POV
It's their last night on Earth. He's walking past the market on his way to Keith when something spots his eye, a beautiful ring, and immediately he knows it's a gift he wants to give to Keith. Tonight they'll finally get to talk, about everything that's happened, about Keith's feelings and how Shiro returns them.
It's the unilu's stall. Shiro manages a trade with junk in his pocket and makes a quick exit before the unilu can realise what a poor deal he made. 
Checking his watch, it's getting late but he passes by another stall that sparks his curiosity, a metal engraver.
Not wanting to keep Keith waiting, he makes to go to the Black Lion quickly but is intercepted by someone from the crew.. and from there it's all a blur.
There are words being said, but Shiro's mind blocking it out. There's a ring sitting on a cushion glinting in his eye. Words transcribed on the inside of the band, and just like that Shiro is snapped out of it. In a shocking turn of events, Shiro grabs the ring, turns to the crowd to find Keith. Kneeling he asks Keith to accept it.

It's the next morning after when Shiro wakes. He sees Keith looking at the band on his finger, face an open window into his heart. 
He tells Keith to look inside the ring, to prove that the ring was always meant for Keith. Shiro asks to borrow it momentarily, they sit and Shiro pulls the covers of them like a veil.
It's quiet and private, natural sunlight, unique to Earth (unique to home) streaming in.
Shiro takes Keiths hand in his and tells him from the heart how he feels, his confession are echoes of his wedding vow (in sickness, in health) but now they're genuine. He kisses Keith and Keith throws himself into Shiro's arms, unable to stop his tears, overwhelmed by emotion.

Epilogue

It's after the war, and they're on New Altea, fields of Juniberry are in full bloom and Shiro and Keith are having their official ceremony in front a small group of their nearest and dearest friends. They kiss and the bouquet is thrown, landing in Allura's hands, much to her and the other Altean's bewilderment. The human crowd go wild and Lance is teased mercilessly. Allura is surrounded by her team, the other Altean's, close friends from the coalition, laughing and carefree and Coran looks over them, so proud of her and the whole team, how they have grown so much and are now free to live happily in a new era of galactic peace.

End.

(I get choked up working on comic, I'm going to be a dried husk by the end I swear)
