Spoilers: thoughts on my preview of A PAW Patrol Christmas

Let's do this like my video reviews

Positives +++

• So much singing! And pup singing is always so cute. That opening song has to be the longest we've ever seen the pups sing

• I did chuckle at "Snow! Snow!" instead of "Go! Go!"

• With the airdrop scene, that's an interesting double dispatch

• Santa laying into Humdinger was pretty funny

• It's so cheesy but it's a holiday special so I kind of enjoyed Rubble being forced into a choice and obviously making the right one

• Similarly, the mawkish sentimentality of the pups accepting Christmas isn't about presents but being together is the kind of cheese I can accept in Christmas specials

• I kinda like Skye taking over as, after all, the aviation specialist

• I appreciated Chewington getting a callback, which suggests a writer who actually cares about the history of the show and some small details

• The pups' breakfast was adorable. You can't eat that way every day, pups! Though I suppose you're very active kids...

Negatives ---

• Oh man, Rubble is so annoying. I get he has to act a bit out of character in order to learn his valuable lesson, but he would not shut up about that drill and it started to seem like a totally different character. Though I can just about buy he'd be blinded enough to go along with Humdinger.

• The overall plot and the whole climax is far too much like A Jr Patrollers' Christmas. Especially after Valiente made it seem like specials would be a bit elevated over the regular show, this didn't get that same sense of extra effort.

• Humdinger isn't TOO bad here but he's still on the annoying side altogether.

• Santa just calling in sick is crazy. Especially since he's then like "Actually turns out I'm all good lol" Good thing nobody else mobilized to save Christmas.

• It was never a realistic prediction, but man, I wish that "All the PAW Patrol pups" from the early summary here really did mean all the members from across all the subseries turning up. I know it was never going to happen but man, I miss those guys...

There will probably be a few more points in a few months, when this airs. But this is probably most of what will be in my video at that point, haha. My work done early.

Also I got a glimpse of new Rubble & Crew and if I didn't like Speed Meister, oh man he's a whole lot better than Mega Meister!!
