I thought I'd start posting more WIP stuff here for the patrons, so here's a few study sketches for the lower visitor center. Some core features that are important for the visual language of all man-made structures within the pit are explored here, namely the blocky, geometric forms combined with space-age structural expression. A lot of cues are taken from films like Silent Running, Total Recall, Outland and the abyss for the design philosophy.
The lower visitor center itself acts as both a departure point for visitor excursions into the pit, as well as a central command center for park management and dispatch. On the lower pyramidal levels are exhibits, small shops, rest lounges and other visitor services, while the top portion contains offices, operations facilities and MEP areas. Large expanses of reinforced glass allow guests breathtaking views of the surrounding pit anatomy as a glimpse of what is to be found further within the Mystery Flesh Pit.
