Poll: AI-generated art in my content?

I've been playing around with Midjourney from about October 2022 and I'm steadily finding more things it can be used for. This is due to my ability to prompt and Midjourney's improving algorithm. Initially it was just fantasy landscapes of Port Nyanzaru or a Jungle scene (which are admittedly quite rough and gestural), or another style of location art for my TotEM location cards. All quite experimental. Recently however, I've used dozens of images which I photobashed and painted to create the roofs of the Trickster God Shrines to incorporate them as seamlessly as I could into those 9 maps.

This technology is relatively new in terms of what its full impact on artists will be. Some argue it'll kill their job or worse all creative pursuits, while others argue its an overall additive to artists and the potential birth of all new creative pursuits. My personal point of view is a little of column A, little of column B. Regardless, two camps are quickly forming — and I'd like to get a heads up as to how you all feel about its use.

What I don't want to do is alienate everyone because I'm having fun with a tool that everyone has collectively decided is bereft of any merit.

I've posted the same poll (just with more words in the options because Patreon has a character limit) on the Discord.

If you have a response that isn't covered below, let me know either via a message here or on Discord. Thanks.

Poll question:
How do you feel about the use of AI art generators in the maps & things I make on this Patreon?

There's been some discussion on the discord too and some direct messages. It's been an interesting day. This is what I'm going to do (almost a copy-paste from discord): 1) Write a post about my use of MidJourney. Not to try sway anyone's opnion, but just put it a disclaimer on my patreon that, be advised I do use a text-to-image generator. Like a list of ingredients on a product "May contain Nuts". (this will include things like ChatGPT, which I can also see as a useful tool to generate/improve content). 2) Tag any post that has used AI help with "ai-supported" or "ai augmented" (or something similar. So that if people want to cherry pick around the "thing with nuts"... they can. This is just so I can be as open as possible. 3) If it's relatively easy to provide an option of not ai-augmented content (eg: a map without extra detailing), I'll add them to the zip. No guarantee to always provide non-ai supported versions of my work. Unlikely that any player handouts wouldn't be significantly ai-generated. 4) I don't currently (for any shared images) and can swear to not use any artist's names in my prompts. Not sure if this actually "helps" the cause as the default illustrative style still comes from artists... but it's a thing within my power to not do.

Here we are talking about creative stuff you present. AI created content is not by definition less creative. All that counts here in my opinion is what you make of it.
