Hi guys! After a solid start to the month, you probably noticed things slowed down considerably due to a lot of bad luck and a lack of internet. As I told one friend here on Patreon, sometimes, they are just falling into place when things are falling apart. The adventure has been hell, and you'll learn why I moved two times, to a new city, in two weeks, and I am praying that this calm will finally last. We noticed a couple of problems that I was silent about in previous updates, and they only seemed to grow. Some I will leave confidential because they are very private, but I'll give you the just of everything else.
Last month, I moved into a new rental house with my mom, partner, and the kids. Things started out going pretty well for the first two days of the move. Sure, we found out one of the bedrooms had a broken window and that there was no place to install a dryer, so washing clothes would be challenging, and our internet would be down for over a week because the location was off the grid, and hadn't had internet service since 2016. However, with all honesty, things were fine. I was blessed to have a new space, and I mean SPACE. The place was huge compared to what I was used to and very cozy. Our room was like a den, with a large walk-in closet that worked as an office space. No more worrying in the morning over me typing away at my desk while my partner was sleeping!!! That is until we encountered the electrical issues, with lights that would flicker and not stay on and were so bright they would burn your eyes. Touching the light fixtures would drop debris from drywall, and one of the fixtures even fell out of the ceiling because it had not been screwed in. The infestation of mosquitos and moths, and the mold and rust left behind in the shower pipes. BLEH!!! The place was renovated but in the laziest of ways. The walls had holes in them that were just plastered over, and there was a literal fist-sized hole in my room door... Well, I actually loved this place. For every negative, there was honestly a positive that could be corrected somehow. For me, it was the space.
So, where did things get really nasty? About three days into moving, I got into a car accident while driving my partner's car. I was unharmed, but my wallet wasn't. It was a very stress-filled day for personal reasons. I'll keep it short. While I will point out, it wasn't a serious accident; I was in the wrong mental state to drive and very frustrated, so I wasn't focused. I had to pay for that...Literally. Don't drive angry, friends!!!
A few days after this, my partner had just gotten accepted to a new job in another city. We decided it would be best to move out. Two days before moving in, we were told that the apartment had a major infestation problem, and we could not move in. We were also told that the building would be switching to a new management company in a few days. Thankfully, through the power of kindness and not cursing out our lovely and sweet housing manager, we were called a few days later, saying that we would have to wait another week but would be given a larger unit at a highly discounted price. We took the deal and got the place. My partner's family was a massive help and temporarily housed us until the move-in date. Still, the biggest issue is I was aching to get back to my people here on Patreon and FA. Well, the day we were supposed to receive our router, it never came. Verizon told us we would have to visit a nearby store and could claim one for free. We spent all day driving around looking for a Verizon store, and contrary to google maps, there were barely any left in this city.
The one we finally found was buried in an alley, and when we proudly walked in, we somehow missed the sign on the front door. "We are all out of routers. Try another location." I will say we finally found one, hence why I'm here right now typing and uploading, but it was a pretty stress-filled journey, and I'm glad to be back.
Thank you again, everyone, for all of the support. I mean it every time I say it. I know it seems like I'm always going through something, and I am, but I know you guys are going through trouble as well, and I'm thankful you guys make the time to chill with me and give support. We get to go through our problems together, and it feels really good to have that. <3
Everyone, please be safe, and don't drive pissed off!
Oh yeah... The first wave of shirts is being shipped out soon. I'll be collecting addresses from anyone eligible and extra info!
Maybe next time, I'll do enamel pins... That's way cooler, right?
