What are the 1 on 1 Consultations?

I am offering paid 1 on 1 consultations, primarily to Patreon people; by primarily, I mean you get preferential booking because slots are very limited.

I’ll try to answer any questions you might have here, and if I’ve left something out that you’d like to know, ask below and I’ll try to answer here.

Why 1 on 1 Consultations?

When I started the Patreon, I used to offer monthly 1 on 1 chats at a certain subscription level. I really enjoyed those chats, but it started to become unmanageable time-wise.

The salons were a way to continue to talk to you, but in a more contained way, but for some people the 1 on 1 chats were really useful for helping them sort out work projects, run ideas by me or they just aren’t group-chat kind of people.

This is a way of being available for 1 on 1 consultation in a way that’s more manageable, respects my time and other commitments and keeps things focused!

What are the 1 on 1 consultations good for?

So far, people have mainly been coming to me for creative consultation; projects they’re working on that they think they’ll find my thoughts or reflections useful for. Brainstorms on academic writing, book pitches, screenplay storyboarding, comedy coaching, writing advice, career direction, big life changes or honestly, just a chat.

So far I’ve found the breadth of different things that people would like my thoughts on or help with incredibly flattering! It’s also confidence boosting, in the way that using a skill well is confidence boosting - it turns out there are a lot of ways I can help make things better, which feels good.

Will it be awkward?

Probably not! Turns out I have thousands of hours of experience between podcasting, academic tutoring back in the day, mentoring, directing and just being a person who occasionally gets asked for advice, and so far it hasn’t been weird at all. Also, helping with things is a passion of mine, which tends to cut through most awkwardness.

How do I book a 1 on 1 Consultation?

The place to book is here. If you can’t find a time that suits you (I’ve limited the hours pretty heavily just because I want to keep numbers small overall. The alternative is limiting numbers by making them a lot more expensive, and I’d rather keep it as accessible as possible for now) just message me here and I’ll open up a better time that you can book.

How many can I book?

As many as you like, really - as long as you keep finding them useful or interesting!
