Drama and Meetings This Week

On Saturday night I got back from my gig around midnight (the downside of being more of a headliner than anything else these days is that you go “what’s stage time?” And they’ll say “10pm!”) only to find the Airbnb had a previously undisclosed security gate locked between me and the front door of my current abode. To which I hadn’t been given a key.

What a way to find out at midnight that the recipe for almost immediately turning me into a complete mess is to put bars between me and my baby. The sudden gate was out of shouting distance of the flat, as I discovered by doing a bit of extremely midnight shouting and relevant parties all had their phones off or were asleep, which I guess is fine and acceptable and a thing some people do at midnight...

I ended up using a construction ladder to break into my own flat, which was a startling process for all involved (including probably the ladder). Laser slept safely through the whole thing, so that’s good.

Writers meeting today, two salons this week and the book club. I’ll be writing on the News Quiz (please tweet them to say I was good on this week’s show!)

I also have a gig in the West End Comedy Club on Thursday, and will be doing Old Rope next Monday.

Everyone’s welcome to all and the times for the Patreon events are all in the calendar at the linktree

If you work in building maintenance long enough you can break into just about any building.

Lol

"Hello Burglars..!"

I used to do pet setting and sometimes and once I locked myself out but knew there was a doggie door so I just squeezed through to the back yard and opened the door through there. Was pretty funny because they had a few large and loud dogs but were super sweet. So when they heard someone fiddling with the gate and door in the middle of the night they ran in barking but once they saw it was me crawling through I was like "Hi Charlie, Hi Bonnie!" and they snorted and licked my face.

From Knights of Old, via Burglar Alice, to Mardy Robots, clanking & swearing is a constant through the ages :-)

I wasn’t even quiet, in part because I didn’t want anyone to think I was a thief, and partly because I wanted everyone to know how angry and upset I was. So my progress through the scaffolding with my ladder was marked by clanking and swearing

It's reassuring and alarming that one can nick a ladder & break into a flat/house, and no one notices. I'm beginning to think that the best way to steal anything is to ask a security guard to help!

Glad you got home and overcame your late night lock-out. They should put that on leaflets about pregnancy. Can you cope with sleep deprivation? Constant demands for love? Changes to your hormones? And what about climbing over a security gate at midnight to be with your child after a headlining in a comedy show? OK... your IN.
