I opened Twist last night in Adelaide. It feels rough but I am so glad to have translated it out of the sort of cloud of ideas floating in my head and into reality for the first time so I can actually work on it. It felt like, I have a lot of the pieces of the show, both jokes and story, and that heart part. It’s just a matter of integrating them smoothly enough that it feels like a coherent whole.
The audience was probably nicer than I deserved, but that was very nice, given that I haven’t been gigging to work in new material so I was worried I’d forgotten how to do the talking to a crowd bit.
Incredible that I haven’t done even one work in progress spot or new material night. Just podcasts.
Travelling to Adelaide yesterday with the baby and getting settled into a new place and then doing a show that night was probably a bit much, so I will put the salon this week off until Friday, so I have a little bit of time to recover and get my feet back under me.
10am Friday adelaide time (weirdly hard to get babysitters to come before 10am in Adelaide). Stick it in your diary and I’ll send through the link closer to the time.
Writers meeting will be 9 am Sydney time on my MONDAY morning (U.K. & US Sunday) because Sunday I’m traveling back to Sydney.
