One-on-Ones

ETA: family emergency, no salon today

I’m now offering one on ones again, this time as paid one offs. One-on-one-one-offs. As you might know, I loved having regular individual conversations with Patreonites as one of the level perks, but it got to be too much time to manage with my other commitments, so I replaced them with the weekly Salons and writers meetings.

Obviously, the group scenario can’t work as well for some people, particularly those who have anxiety around group stuff, or are shy, but this was the way I could make it work. And I’ve found the salons have their own joy, intimate and relaxed, interesting and tricky and funny, I really really love the ways we have formed a community with lateral web connections rather than having it be all multiple-singular threads TO MEEEE.

It was the compromise I could make work and I think it’s worked out really really well. Offering the one-on-ones this way is another compromise*, but one I think should work for some people, so I’m making it available to them. Thanks for suggesting it! At the moment I’m only plugging it here, because there are limited slots (I’ll only take one or two each week). I’ll put it up elsewhere at some point in the new year.

* it’s not ideal to have a paywall to my time, it feels weird and self aggrandising** but until I have a Secretary or assistant, all the alternatives I could think of are either bizarre or logistically hefty.

** though I’ve found it hard in the past to value my time, in the crude sense, having Laser Fraser to factor in has clarified things down to, how much to take time away from her, how much time to take, and having to be able to cover paying a babysitter if I do want to take that time.
