Back in Australia + Brisbane Show

I will be doing a CHRONOS show in Brisbane on 12 November at Good Chat Comedy: tickets here. Please come or send your Brisbane friends. I’d like to visit my twin more often, and if I can fill a room here, it’ll mean more of a chance to do that.

I am back in Aus! I have many mixed feelings, but I won’t articulate them until I am a bit more sane. Currently extremely groggy either from jetlag or from the 25 hour trip that contained about twenty minutes of sleep. Who knows which is the pivotal factor in how shit I feel? Science would like to find out!

I am occasionally complimented on having original ideas and saying unusual things, so may I make the groundbreaking observation here that I don’t hugely recommend a 24 hour flight with an almost one year old. Despite having obviously the best angelic and most perfect baby, a long haul flight is a weird and horrible and disorienting and annoying place to be even when your brain has fully finished developing, so it was pretty non-stop.

I am currently at my brother’s house in Queensland, and dad has joined the party because the lure of both his children under one roof was too great to allow to go to waste. Which means I have Dad and Henry to mind the baby while I try (and mostly fail) to write my Gargle jokes for this evening and my News Quiz jokes for tomorrow. Hence this update - a thing I can do that’s slightly easier than thinking of jokes, but is still useful - part of my policy of working with my brain as it is, rather than against it, wishing it were a better brain.

This week I will not do any salons, because I feel like the world is a cracked mirror and the sun is a flourescent lightbulb someone’s turned on at night to play a trick on me, and also all my old getting over jetlag tricks rely at least in some part on having control over your own sleep, which I do not currently have. But next week we will do two, so that I can catch both the U.K. and the US from the Australian zone.
