I genuinely have no idea how this effect was achieved.

This is a picture of my baby’s foot, taken by said baby. I do not give my baby the phone. She achieves the phone through stealth and pickpocketry and then goes on sprees of self portraiture.

This weekend I did a quick trip to London to attend the wedding of Tiff Stevenson to her long time beloved, Paul. It was really lovely. I cried and then didn’t get to hang round to see friends and fancy people, because of bedtime. But it is always so lovely to see people doing something solemn and intent. There are few places where we’re fully allowed to be wildly earnest about how much we love people in the world any more. Not that I’m suggesting we all become like my American friend Alex, who will hold both the hands and the gaze of his dear friends and say “I love you SO much”. There has to be a middle ground. More hallowed spaces, but not sustained tender eye contact with valued colleagues at tea time.

Salon this week is on Thursday at 4pm London Time (catching the US people and losing the Aus people this week, I’m afraid). Wednesday is the anniversary of mum’s death, so I’ll probably just spend the day making a little space for solemn and earnest emotion by letting myself miss her and telling Laser stories about her.

Looks like a panoramic photo.

That sounds like a lovely way to observe your mother's yahrzeit. I'm hoping to join this next salon, as the time is almost amenable to US Pacific Time denizens like me.
