Florentine Disappointments

On one hand, a guy in my apartment building was singing opera to himself last night, so that was pretty great. On the other hand, a writing gig I had lined up in the U.K. for tomorrow has fallen through for infuriating bureaucratic reasons I could have dodged if they’d given me a heads up say three weeks ago.

Had a bit of a swear to myself, and then reminded myself that I have a pretty lucky life with lots of hard and interesting work, and this opportunity, cool though it might have been, is not make or break, life or death, career or bust. (Thanks mainly to YOU, you gorgeous gang of discerning humans who support me here on Patreon. What ought the collective noun for a group of Alice Fraser aficionados be?)

Disappointment aside, the Salon this week will be at 11am U.K. time on wednesday. This is 8pm Sydney time or your local equivalent. It’s a bit early for the US people but we are recording the gargle at normal salon time. I will send through the link closer to the time.

There will also be another writers meeting on Sunday. At 1pm U.K. time, but we’ll sort that out later.

Xx

Long time follower/listener via The Bugle, first time Patreon...could we be Frasels (though now I write it, I want it to be more Frazzels, like the crisps).

Just The Flamboyance and don’t explain 😂

I was thinking it should be tea related like lis-tea-ners or tealights or something better

Rob, you gave me the worst idea: „a flock of creamy tits“.

mangochutney

Perfect. We may be a flamboyance, but clearly we're supportive AF.

Your supporters should be known as the Alice Band.

Richard Dunn

"A flamboyance of Fraser's flamingos" sounds just about right indeed!

In other random facts about groups of birds, I just learned earlier today that there are a few terms for groups of puffins including a colony, a puffinry, a circus, a gathering and, perhaps the most peculiar, an improbability.

Jeff Watts

😂 that was literally my first thought as well. A flamboyance isn't bad, actually.

Jeff Watts

Haha, I was thinking the same :) I looked up the collective noun to describe a gathering of flamingos. It's called a “flamboyance”

Bart Holthuijsen

Are we not a flock? On the subject mentioned many moons ago about disturbing religious iconography (Christian crucifix for instance) you need to go into the duomo and have a lot at the ceiling in the cupola. Truly horrific

> What ought the collective noun for a group of Alice Fraser aficionados be? Fraser's Flamingoes? *ducks*
