Edinblog Final Weekend

It’s been a hectic week, what with radio interviews to Australia for the launch of The Alice Fraser Trilogy, my Dad arriving at the Fringe and you know... The Fringe.

Today for example, I woke up about 20 minutes before I needed to be on stage at a morning lineup show, then met my dad to take him to see Tim Fitzhigham’s lovely Flanders and Swan tribute act (last night I took him to John Luke Roberts and the Alternative Comedy Memorial Society, so don’t worry that I’m sheltering his sensibilities).

Then I took dad to do his Edinburgh Debut stage performance as part of the delightful Standup Philosophy series. Dropped him off at the venue, bolted to do the daily 3pm family friendly show I’m booked for and then bolted back to close the Standup Philosophy Show. I managed to see most of my dad startling the heck out of a lovely youthful Philosophy crowd to rapturous applause, which was good, because it also gave me time to stop panting from my run.

Then we sat and talked to that lovely audience for a while and I realised it was nearly 5pm and I still hadn’t eaten breakfast.

Now sitting in my delightful shared dressing room under the McEwan Hall, about to prep ETHOS for tonight, after which I will do Set List at 10.30pm.

It’s been really nice to show my dad what my work days here look like, and he’s been immensely game for everything from coming to watch me do Colt Cabana and Brendon Burns’ wrestling commentary show, to staying up til 3am watching the wildness of ACMS, or doing their obscure comedy quiz to eating hotpot with the lovely Zaltzman family.

Family can be a very good thing.

Wait. Dad is on stage? How many episodes did I miss? (That is so cool.)
