To me, it seems completely understandable that Betty would derive some catharsis from luring Don into an extramarital situation. Betty wants to believe that she is at least as desirable as the women Don used in the process of nullifying their marital commitments. For Betty, there is probably also some sexual thrill involved in putting Don in this situation, which she has treated as completely taboo up to this point (despite her previous infidelities). It also seems likely that the sexual kinks Betty has developed with Henry are partially responsible for the realization of this moment (otherwise the episode would probably not have opened by exploring the kinkiness of Betty and Henry's relationship). It's unlikely, but I do think there is a possibility that Betty is going into this situation knowing that it would turn Henry on, and that she is using that fact as a means of distancing herself from any guilt she might otherwise endure as a result of cheating on him. No matter how you slice it, though, Betty's primary source of satisfaction in this situation is in using Don like a sexual plaything. This may be how she is able to finally rid herself from the specter of his influence, once and for all. So I would not make the mistake of characterizing this encounter as frivolous or inexplicable. Betty has a lot to gain from this encounter. Don, as usual, is just on autopilot.
