We will all have our own definition of what success looks like with money, career, health life and relationships.

But generally speaking, success can be defined as:

Success = Achieving significantly MORE than what you’ve done until this point today.

Success = You significantly outperforming your current self.

1. Standing Out

Success, especially when visibly recognised makes you to stand out.

When you stand out, you could become more of a target.

The more people can see you, the more likely someone will take aim at you just because you’re there.

With social media, the more of an audience you grow, then the more likely you will have haters and negative people following you too.

People won’t have ever spoken to you, taken the time to get to know you or would they even consider hearing your side to a story where you're framed to be the 'bad guy'

The more you are seen, the more negativity you are bound to get.

You will have people watching your every move waiting for you to slip up so they can have something to say

They do this simply because your success is a reflection of their lack of success.

This fear holds people back from creating success because they are afraid of the negative feedback that could come from other people who haven’t reached the same level of success that you have.

If you don’t want people to talk about you, just do nothing and be a nobody. This way nobody will anything to say.

If you become a someone in society, people are always going to have something to say, often negative.

When you’re the gladiator in the arena, the spectators will talk, accept it and perform.

(Don’t mistake this for having a mentor in your corner who is giving you constructive criticism or feedback)

2. Rejection

Remember :

Success = Achieving significantly MORE than what you’ve done until this point today.

Success = You significantly outperforming your current self.

When you are aiming to be more successful than you currently are,

There are no guarantees that you will get it. You can strive for heights that you will fail to reach.

You can get rejected by the levels and standards you are attempting to reach.

And because you are aiming for heights that not many people will never even think or try to achieve, this results in your failures being public which can cause you to feel embarrassed because of your public failures.

Understand: Embarrassment is not real, this is just a feeling and a state of mind. It is a mental choice, something you ALLOW to happen in your mind.

You can allow the failure of a big goal to destroy you or you can brush it off and try again.

Many people would rather avoid the possible rejection of going after a big goal and failing,

because they want to avoid the criticism and ridicule from other people about failing to get it.

Instead, they chase less ‘risky’ and mediocre goals and succeed at reaching those levels, just so they can feel as if they did ‘something’ and won’t feel like a failure.

I’ve noticed many people do this.

3. “Can I Sustain Being At This Level’

Questioning yourself on whether you can sustain the level of success you have is a very common thought.

Some people fear that they won’t be able to sustain their success so they bullshit themselves with not even trying to get it in the first place.

This goes back to what I was saying about expectations and responsibilities in Parts 2 and 3

Part 2: https://www.patreon.com/posts/99785606

Part 3: https://www.patreon.com/posts/why-you-fear-3-99852173

When you are the MAIN person, people will rely and have expectations of you.

When you are the MAIN person, other people will rather get behind you and hope you can keep things going rather than do it themselves.

Why? Because most people would rather be lead than to be the leader.

(Most people claim they want to lead, they really don’t. Trust me)

Once you become successful, you will be expected to remain successful because you have a bunch of people now relying and depending on you.

When you are a high level performer, other people strop trying to compete with you and they just follow you instead.

Now you (literally) have to do it all yourself.

Which means you can feel the pressure of knowing you must sustain your success, not only for yourself, but also for the people who decided to follow you.

This is one of the tradeoffs you are making when you choose to be a successful individual.

This is one of the cons of being in a position of leadership.
