Coronavirus Updates for Japan 😷

It's been quite the past couple days for Japan in regards to the Coronavirus. Prime Minister Abe recommended that all schools end their year a few weeks early, so the majority of schools in the country will be closing at the beginning of March. Even up here in Northern Japan where no cases of Coronavirus have been recorded, schools are still taking the Prime Minister's advice and closing early. 

Meanwhile the rest of the population has begun panicking over toilet paper and has started to hoard it in mass amounts. Stores all over the country (even up here in Morioka, couldn't believe it) are sold-out of toilet paper and the government has had to make announcements to tell people to stop hoarding (didn't work lol). It's all a bit ridiculous, not sure how that started. I suppose the mentality is that it might get so bad that we don't want to leave our houses, so they're preparing for that perhaps? Honestly I don't see why everyone is so scared. Symptoms are basically that of a regular flu, and the mortality rate is only slightly higher. I'm guessing it has something to do with the insane media coverage making it seem like the end of the world. 

Major events like concerts, sporting events, business events etc. have also been cancelled for the next few months. Tokyo Disneyland will close its doors for a couple weeks as well, and I've heard the Ghibli Museum is also closed. Keep that in mind if you do have an upcoming trip to Japan, your choices for entertainment might be a little more limited than usual. 

Flights are also getting cancelled left and right so I really hope my trip to Korea in April won't be affected🙏
