Progress log #18

Hey everyone,

just a quick update about the work I've done last week and the work I plan to do this week.

Last week, I've finished a couple of pieces and started work on the two major scenes that I mentioned earlier. Though I've made some sketches, I decided to put the scenes on hold until I finish the "story segment" that I mentioned in the previous progress log. Writing those major scenes in question might rely on the outcome of the story segment, so I want to finish that first to avoid working in the dark, so to speak.

I expect to be working on the story segment in the next couple of days. It is basically a heist with multiple possible solutions and varying levels of success. Like I said before, I decided to tone down my plans for it drastically - initially, I wanted to make it into 5 stages, where the circumstances of the environment (in this case a tavern) change every time you move to the next stage (which is represented by passage of time, e.g. stage 1 is early afternoon, stage 2 is early evening etc). Different stages would have different people you can talk to and different opportunities to overcome obstacles, solve problems in your way, etc. But, you know... time is of the essence, so I will streamline it into a single "stage".

Needless to say, the segment will require a lot of extra artwork, which is why I welcome it as an opportunity to experiment with drawing fast. Usually when I draw, I try my hardest to make the piece look as best as I can possibly manage - and this takes a lot of time. But with artwork for the story segment (aka tavern heist), I want to push myself to willingly sacrifice some of the quality for the sake of producing the artwork quicker. I tried making one piece and it took me 3 hours from start to finish, but sadly I can't show it in this post because nudity can only be shown in Patron-only posts (at least I believe that's the case) - that being said, you can have a look on my discord if you are curious about the result.

But if you've read all this way, here's a small sketch of another scene from the tavern heist depicting the MC and a mysterious, relatively flat-chested girl who won a Patron poll (like four years ago). The scene itself will have several pictures, each slightly different; same camera angle, slightly different poses and expressions. I don't want to spoil, but if you like feet - you might like this scene. If you are disgusted by feet, then I hope you're not reading this.

As of now, I have sketches of all the different variations of the above scene (not to spoil anything, but the variations will be missable). I am a bit unsure if I am going to proceed with the scene as I intended though - while it's not sexual by any means, I dare say that touching a girl's feet might have some erotic undertones. But maybe that's a good thing... (unless you think feet are disgusting, in which case I really hope you stopped reading by now!)

Anyway, that's all for this (weekly?) progress log. Next week I will try to be on time to update you about how successful I was with the fast-drawing experiment.
