“And can someone tell me why the queen of Dracluna is hugging your arm along with a very cute maid?” Miyumi asked with a very amused expression on her face. She really wanted to know how Shizuku managed to woo the queen of an entire kingdom.

“Ah yeah… there is a story behind this… I think?” Shizuku was not sure she looked over at Tanya who was hugging her arm with a big smile on her face unsure what to say since the damned girl did not explain things at all.

Shizuku poked Tanya on the cheek to get her attention. Shizuku looked into Tanya’s big round eyes and asked: “Care to explain?”

 “Ahem…” Tanya cleared her throat as she sat up. “As you know Eulise was someone who could manipulate blood. There has never been anyone else who could do this since her time. She was the one who gave birth to the vampire race and created this very kingdom. After she disappeared, I was selected out of a battle of death and blood to take the throne and have sat on it ever since.

“Eulise did not like titles even though she was the one who gave birth to all of our kind. She was the one who took a girl who was on the verge of death and gave her a new life. To me, she was my mother. She saved my life and raised me until I was old enough to handle the change from human to vampire. She even gave me the rank of queen. The second to highest rank one can get. While I can also do as she did and change people into vampires, I can not give anyone a higher rank than a rook. You might not know this but vampire ranks differ from what the outside world knows. They go as follows…

“The king is the ultimate ruler of vampires, only they can create a queen. Queens are the keepers of the castle. They deal with everything when the king is away or there is no king. Rooks are the castle. They are the last line of defense in protecting the queen and king. The bishop is the one who manages the castle. They are the ones who take care of the small details. The knight protects those above. Ensuring the safety of all vampires. While the pawns are the foot soldiers who are put on the front lines.

“It is a straight and direct system but I feel there is more to it. Why I feel this way I do not know but I think it is more instinct than anything.” Tanya explained.

“Then explain to me why you want to be my wife when you are the strongest of all vampires at this time. I know what you said back in the palace but I want the truth.” Shizuku really wished to know this answer. She was not against Tanya being her wife but she wanted to know the true reason.

“ What I said back in the palace was the truth. But I can also say it is because only those with blood manipulation can become kings. Eulise had mentioned this to me once. In other words, you are set to be the next king, and as your queen, it is only right that I get to be with my king, no?” Tanya tilted her head, acting as cutely as possible, making Shizuku sigh. She really was defeated so easily.

“Soo… King Shizuku, how do you feel to be come royalty?” Miyumi teased causing Shizuku to roll her eyes.

“I am far from some royalty. I do admit I am not against the idea since my main goal is to grow as strong as possible and having the backing of the very queen who rules over vampires is not so bad. Plus, I already promised Tanya I would make her my wife so she is now your sister as well.” Shizuku replied.

Tanya smiled brightly as she said: “Then please place your mark on me. This way I can always come to your aide when you need me.”

Shizuku understood what Tanya meant so she was not surprised. The ability to jump to your master as a slave was very powerful indeed. Especially when the slave in question was stronger than anyone else. But what really impressed Shizuku was Tanya’s understanding that she was still the queen so she had work to do and she knew it would be too soon to announce anything that would bring trouble to them.

“Then I will do the contract now.” Shizuku did not waste any time and quickly placed a contract on Tanya before also making sure to order her her freedom to do as she pleased.
