Rose stared at Shizuku for a long time before her eyes started to water up. She did not wish to be alone. During her long travel to this city, she had been alone, and it was hard. All of it was very hard on her. “Thank you! Wah~~!!!”

Rose cried and cried. All the anguish she had felt since her father tried to marry her off was now coming out. She now had real friends. People who would support her. She never thought a day like this would ever come. Shizuku moved her chair next to Rose and rubbed her back, letting the girl cry as much as she wanted, not caring for the looks others were giving them.

“Feeling better?” Shizuku asked. Rose had cried for a good three minutes before finally calming down.

“Mm… Shizu, I really am lucky to have met you. I will follow you to the capital. No matter what happens, I will always be with you.” Rose had not noticed it, but her words sounded more like a proposal with how she was now holding Shizuku’s hands and staring teary-eyed into Shizuku’s eyes.

“Then welcome aboard,” Shizuku replied with a bright smile. This smile also made Rose smile. But this cute moment only lasted so long because everyone who had been watching began clapping. Shizuku looked around to see the looks on the people’s faces, all looking at them with a bit of fondness, and knew they had gotten the wrong idea. Rose, on the other hand was blushing like crazy. She had no idea what was going on.

As the girls got up to walk back to the inn, a person suddenly walked out and stood in front of them. “Are you perhaps the summon from another world?”

The person who was asking was a young man with pale skin. His shoulder-length black hair swayed, lighting in the breeze, but what caught Shizuku’s eyes was the red eyes that were staring at her with the intent to kill.

“If I am not wrong, you should be a pawn, right?” Shizuku asked. She instinctively felt that this young man was nothing more than a mere pawn.

“No point and answering a dead woman!” The young man suddenly drew a sword and stabbed out at Shizuku. Shizuku shook her head and flicked her finger. The young man’s attack suddenly stopped an inch from Shizuku’s heart. His entire body was frozen in place.

Shizuku sighed as she said: “You shouldn’t have gone for my life. Now your dead.” Shizuku did not say any more as she stepped past the young man whom’s name she will never know and continued walking towards the inn. Rose was in utter shock at what just happened. She had no idea why the young man suddenly stopped moving. She had only taken two steps when she heard the sound of something falling behind her.

When she turned to look, she saw that the young man had fallen to the ground unmoving. “This…. Shizu…”

“Ignore him. He came with the intent to kill now he has died.” Shizuku did not even glance back, waving it off as if it was nothing. She had expected to be attacked at some point but not so far out away from the capital. Rose could only nod and hurry to follow Shizuku.

After Shizuku left, on top of a building, three pawns sat. Two young women and a man. The man furrowed his brow and asked: “Did anyone see how she attacked just now?”

“Not in the slightest.” A woman with brown hair replied, eyes glowing slightly red.

“She flicked her finger. But besides that, I saw nothing else.” The woman with blonde hair answered while wrinkling her nose. She was starting to wonder if this was even worth it. “I think I might return. That girl is strange.”

“Hey, hey, you can’t be going anywhere. I paid you both to help me kill this woman.” The man glared at the two women. “Unless you both want to be my stepping stone to becoming a knight.”

“Rufus, you did pay us, but that was only for the amount of a newborn pawn. You wanted us here in case she had powerful backup no?” The brown-haired woman said with a snort. She was not going to risk her life either. As her friend said, that woman was strange.

“Tch… Find I will triple the pay if you are willing to help me.” While Rufus talked big, he did not dare to use any of these girls as his stepping stone, even if he was only a single kill away from his thousandth kill. He had been waiting for a few hundred years, always picking off the newborns. He did not dare touch the already established ones. He was not powerful enough for that.

“You wouldn’t even need us if you got off your ass and leveled up. Rufus, hasn’t your father told you to enter a dungeon a few times now to level up?” the blonde-haired woman asked with a bit of sarcasm in her voice. She was obviously making fun of Rufus for being weak.

“That is none of your concern. Come on. We will lose her.”
