ACFGTTM) Pissed Off

“Oh Itami, going out on a date?” an old woman asked as Itami and Tomoya were walking side by side towards the subway station.

“Haha… Yeah, something like that.” Itami scratched his head. He did not know how else to answer that.

Tomoya gaged. She liked Itami as a friend, but beyond that, she wanted to puke. “Gah. I think I ate something bad last night.”

Itami rolled his eyes. He knew why she was gagging. “So once we reach the station we should be able to catch the next train that comes in ten minutes. We can then head to the convention.”

“Mmm… Luckily it is a convention so people will just think I am cosplaying.” Tomoya grinned as she swished her tails. Itami couldn’t help but take a peek. He knew that Tomoya used to be a boy but he still couldn’t but think that Tomoya was very cute.

The subway was packed. Tomoya and Itami were forced to a spot near the door where they were basically squished together. “Fuck, I hate modern society.” Tomoya cursed as she hoped the damn train would arrive soon. She had long forgotten what it was like to ride a train since she hadn’t done it since she actually attended school.

“This is quite bad.” Itami was also not feeling too good.

“Hmmm?” Tomoya felt something touch her tail, causing her anger to rise. “Who the fuck is touching my shit!?” She spun and reached out behind her, grabbing a young man with a backpack on.

“Ahh! My arm!” The young man yelled out. With Tomoya’s strength, how could his arm not suffer?

“Tomoya, let go!” Itami quickly pulled Tomoya back. He knew Tomoya was not normal, but even he heard the bones cracking just now. This kid would be lucky if he could ever use that hand again. This was not him saying he condoned such actions but he did not need Tomoya getting arrested. If they find out she was a real fox girl, all hell would break loose. Like her destroying the city instead of the invaders! “Any more, and you will get arrested instead.”

“Tch! Stupid laws!” Tomoya cursed again. She let the young man go and moved closer to the door while pushing Itami to stand in front of her. “Since you are a man, do some protecting!”

“I don’t want to hear that from you!” Itami couldn’t help but roll his eyes. This damn girl used to be a man and is already very strong. Who the hell could protect her in this world!?

“Haha!” Tomoya let out a laugh. She could see the awkward expression on Itami’s face. She now knew why Kaijin liked to pick on people so much. It was fun!

A while later they finally arrived and the traffic of people was really bad. The lines were long and just getting out of the station was a hassle and a half. “Good we are still early. Let’s head for the intersection. Sadly no con today but later we can go shopping in Akihabara. I will make sure your boss gives me a bunch of money.”

Tomoya had no worries about joining Itami to go through the gate. After all, she had language comprehension. She could speak and understand any language no matter what it was.

“According to your timeline, the gate should appear in about an hour. We really got here early.” Itami really wanted to go take a look around the convention, but….

“We can go sit in the coffee shop over there. There is no need to care about anything else right now. Once the gate opens, I can act, but… When people start running for their lives, they no longer care about those around them. It’s not really their fault but the fact that everyone has a natural instinct for survival. They would end up running away over their own family members in order to stay alive. A human stampede is just as dangerous as the enemy.” Tomoya knew no matter which way they went about it, people were going to get hurt, maybe even die. But if she did not act, more people would die than needed.

“I know. Just do what you can to make them all disperse as soon as the gate appears.” Itami also understood Tomoya’s worries but there was nothing they could do about it. He had suggested putting up a barrier but it was rejected by Tomoya. She said it took too much mana to maintain. But in truth, the reason Tomoya did not want to do that was because if chaos did not ensue, then Itami would not get to go through the gate. While she wanted to save as many lives as possible, she also had to let a few people die. There was no getting around this.

“Then let’s head to the coffee shop.” Itami took the lead, and Tomoya followed. They went to a nearby coffee shop that was more of an upscale place. As they tried to enter, they were immediately stopped.

“No cosplayers.” A man stopped them at the door.

“Cosplay your mother! Either let us in, or I throw you out into traffic!” Tomoya hated when people looked down on cosplayers. They worked hard for each one of their creations and put their heart and souls into their craft. To be looked down upon like this made Tomoya angry. But now that she thought about it, ever since coming back to a modern world, everything seemed to piss her off.

Comments

yeah the details are very slim so I am kinda making it up as I go.

I listened to volume 1 of gate at work yesterday to refresh my memory and I was rather surprised to realize how few details the novels give for the initial incident. As for Itami all it really said was that he took charge of evaluating the panicked civilians.

It's understandable how everything in modern society would piss someone off... Thank you for the chapter!
