“Me, I…. Ummm… just know I mean you no harm. I… can’t really tell you about my past, but I did leave my village and probably can never return. My family wanted me to marry someone I did not wish to marry. So to escape a loveless marriage, I left, and now I am here.” Rose was a bit reluctant to tell them everything, but everyone had a secret or two that they hid.

“I see. I think you did the right thing. Marrying someone you do not love is just suffering. Mei, Miyu, and Mino are my wives, and I love all three of them.” Shizuku already had Mino sitting on her lap and Miyumi and Mei sitting on each side of her. She was basically engulfed in a yuri blanket.

“Wait… Huh? You are married to women!?” Rose had never thought of this. She had always had a repulsion towards men with how they looked at her. But she never really thought about having a girl as a lover. It made her wonder if that was where she would find love someday.

“Mmm…” Shizuku nodded. “Love comes in all kinds of different forms.”

“I guess that is true.” Rose nodded in agreement. Love did come in all forms.

“Umm… what about me?” Lishia was pouting at the side. Did they not have sex, too? Why was she being excluded from the wives’ list?

“Hmm? You? A toy?” Shizuku replied with a smile.

Lishia lowered her head. She had really come to like Shizuku during their journey. And even spread her legs many times for the girl. But she was not counted as a wife! This made her very depressed to the point she felt like crying.

“Shizu, don’t tease her anymore. Lishia will end up crying.” Miyumi felt bad. She could see the tears welling up in the sword saint’s eyes.

“Okay! Sorry. Lishia is also my wife. She is very sweet and loyal.” Shizuku set Mino aside and moved over to give Lishia a hug and kiss. “I’m sorry my joke went a little too far.”

“Mmm…” LIshia nodded and finally smiled. She was glad things were official now.

Rose watched from the side. She did not know what to make of any of this. But it did make her think more about possible future partners. In truth, she was a princess of the phoenix clan. Her mother died when she was young, and she was raised by her father. Her clan was hidden away in a volcano hidden behind a barrier. The only trouble she knew of was political trouble but no one of it ever affected her. She was a literal bird in a cage stuck behind the stone walls of their palace with only the maids and guards to talk to.

No real friends. Rarely got to speak to her own father. And the one time he does call upon her, he tells her to marry a man she had never met all because he wanted to appease both sides of the board and calm the infighting within the clans. She still remembered his expression clearly as he spoke. He had no emotion at all when he looked at her. It was as if she was dead to him. Nothing more than a political tool to be used when needed.

Her closest thing to a friend was her personal maid Tina, who helped her disguise herself to escape the clan. She made it to the barrier and quickly passed through, but how was she supposed to know that the barrier would place a curse upon her, causing her unable to use her wings?

She, ignorant to the world outside her cage, walked through the forests, fighting off the monsters that came near. She was someone who had been pampered all her life, and now she had to survive on her own. If not for her fire magic, she would have ended up needing to eat raw meat. Her trip through the mountains and to this town had made her realize the harshness of the world this was why she was more than happy to clamp on to the leg of those who were so kind to her.

She knew it was shameless, but she had no choice. She could not bring herself to steal, so she could only beg Shizuku to help her out for a short time, at least until she could make her own money and learn the ways of the outside world.

She herself felt her pride disappearing. But she had made a choice. She did not wish to return to the cage. She had tasted freedom and the kindness of others. She wished to see the greenery that she had never seen before. The bustling streets of the towns and cities. All of it was all new and colorful to her. She loved it and wished to travel and see so much more.

Luckily the person who was willing to come to her aide was someone kind. If she was stuck with a person who had ill intentions towards her, she might have ended up in jail for burning them alive. She may seem like a newborn chick who had imprinted on Shizuku, but in fact, she was quite strong. Her flames could burn down an entire city if she so wished it.
