TAOTB) Just Die For Me

The next day, after a third painful bath, Chloe and I were standing on the rooftop of the apartment building I was in. I watched as Chloe swung the sword in her hand back in forth in awe at the fact that she was able to swing it so easily now. “Reni, this is just amazing….”

“Mm… It’s something that doctors do not want you to know about because if you do, it will make it so that they lose money. The black substance is all the bad stuff in your body. So even if you were overweight, you would quickly slim down in about a week and be much stronger on top of it all. Although I can say that the results will lessen as time goes on. Right now, it might seem like we are powering up quickly, but in truth, we are slowly reaching the point at which a normal human can grow with medical herbs alone. But our strength will grow even more as we work with the swords. So, for now, let’s start with basics, shall we?” I held the same sword as Chloe out in front of me. It was just a short sword, but Chloe was amazing with the short sword. She could easily slice down her enemies as long as she was not outnumbered.

I had seen it all before. The young black haired fox girl who swung her sword with everything she had when I was cornered. She killed and killed until she was finally overwhelmed. When I saw her head that smiled at me with eyes filled with love flying through the air, I lost my mind. Chloe is a treasure. She is my treasure, and I will not allow her to suffer the same fate ever again.

So, to hell with becoming an angel on the battlefield. I will first start off with the Higgins family. They were the first to instigate the others in capturing me. I still remember Bobby Higgins’s face when he squeezed my still beating heart in his hand over his mouth and let the red fluid drip down his throat. 

As I thought of that bastard, another thought came to mind. “Hey Chloe, do you know a Bobby Higgins?” 

“Bobby Higgins? Isn’t he the captain of the football team? I heard he was just recently caught two timing two of the cheerleaders. Why do you ask?” Chloe was the quiet type who always listened, so I knew I could rely on her for such information.

“He was the one who started our demise,” I explained softly. “Before the world changes, I must get rid of him.”

I also still needed to get to the west coast as well. If I don’t, I might not be able to save my parents. As I was lost in thought, I felt two arms encircle my waist. I looked down to see Chloe looking up at me. Even her serious expression was very cute. 

“If you have to kill him, then I will help. You do not need to shoulder everything alone. I will be here for you.” Chloe’s words warmed my heart. It was true that I was used to doing things alone, so hearing her say this to me really made me smile. I leaned down and kissed her lips. 

“Chloe, killing someone now might not be easy to get away with. We will train for now, and when the time is right, we will take him out, then take a plane to the west coast before shit hits the fan.” I gently patted the top of her head. Her eyes squinted as she smiled and hugged me tighter.

“I will do anything as long as it makes you happy.” Chloe sounded like one of those yandere girls from anime. But she was too cute to resist. So I cuddled her and rained kisses on her face. 

We trained until late at night before bathing and having some nighttime fun. The next morning, the school called, and I lied, saying I had the flu. There was not much they could do. All calls to my house were routed here. And they did not have my mother’s phone number, so I had full control over what the school knew. 

As for Chloe, they could call her house all they wanted if she had a phone. Chloe was lucky to have a cell phone, which I got her myself. If they were to visit, then they would be in for a treat. I do not think any teacher would want to go to Chloe’s neighborhood. As for me, they could show up, but I will reject them. They can’t come into my house without a parent, and I live alone.

After taking our herbal baths once more, we began our day filled with training once again. Our days were filled with this repeated routine. Chloe was really picking things up with her sword. She was a very fast learner, as I had expected.

Unlike zombie movies or anything like that, it was not feasible to try to horde anything. Growing stronger was the most important thing. And even if I did horde stuff, then what? I had no place to put it.

And without notice, November 12th arrived. I had already booked two plane tickets to the Sanfran. The flight left at 9 a.m. on the 13th, which was perfect since I planned to deal with Bobby Higgins first thing early in the morning that day. Chloe and I already came up with a plan to deal with him.

The two of us were currently sitting on the edge of the building, looking out over the city. We held hands as we basked in the warm sun overhead. “Chloe, tomorrow, it might be hard for you, so let me do the killing. I have done it before, so it’s nothing to me.”

“No. I said before we will do it together.” Chloe was a stubborn fox. No wonder she turned into a fox girl. I leaned my head on her shoulder as we watched a flock of birds fly by. They seemed to look at us strangely since we were literally on the edge of the building, swaying her legs back and forth. Most people would find our current position very dangerous, but with all our training, our balance was on another level. But to think such small creatures will soon become flying nightmares.

We trained all day once again before spending our last night, without worry, together. However, we did keep it in moderation since we had to get up early.

 At 5 a.m., we waited outside Bobby Higgins’s house. The past week, we had staked out around his house to figure out his normal routines. And every morning before school, around 5:15 a.m., he would go out for a run.

“There he is. I will get going.” I was dressed differently today. I had on a large sweater, baggy jeans, and my hair down. Chloe nodded and ducked down out of sight. 

With my hands in my pocket, I walked over to Bobby, who was running towards me. “Hey, Bobby.”

“Hmmm?” Booby came to a stop and looked at me with a curious expression. “You are…. Serenity, right?”

I had to hide my urge to kill since I could not let my anger out here. I still had to catch a flight and did not wish to end up in jail before then. “Mmm… I know it’s weird for me to suddenly appear here like this, but I wanted to ask you for a favor if possible.” 

“Oh? And what can I do for you?” I knew I caught his interest. I would have worn sexier clothes if I could, but hiding daggers would be impossible.

“Can we talk in a more private place?” I asked, forcing my cheeks to blush. I raised my eyebrows slightly and gave him a look, as if to say just say yes and you will not regret it.

“Alright. I know a spot where no one will see or hear us.” Bobby licked his lips and walked in front of me. He seemed quite tactful since he did not try to put his arm around me or anything. I guess he has done this a few times now.

When we walked past the alley Chloe was hiding in, I signaled with my fingers for her to follow. During our training over the past month, we had worked out and memorized many hand signals to allow us to communicate without words. 

I did not need to know if Chloe saw it or not because her burning gaze of jealousy could be felt. Bobby did not say a word as we walked to a building that was still under construction, but it seemed the construction had stalled on it. We pushed past the barrier and made our way inside. 

When we entered, Bobby finally spoke up. “So, what did you have to speak to me about.”

“Well…” I lowered my head, acting as shy as I could. I was doing my best to mimic Chloe when I got in between her legs. I walked towards the far wall away from the door and turned to look at the man who was the main cause of my and everyone I loved’s death. “What I am about to ask you is very simple. Can you…. Can you just….” I smiled brightly as I pulled a dagger out from the hem of my jeans. “Die for me?”
