TAOTB) Chapter 3) Tonights Pleasure And Tomorrows Pain

In my city at this time, there was only one place a person could go to buy swords and daggers. It was a small shop now, but in the future, it would become the biggest franchise in the entire city. This place was called Garnets Smithy. It was a family run business with a heritage that went back a few hundred years. The craftsmanship was also very much to my liking. 

“Welcome… Oh? What can I get you two young ladies?” The old man behind the counter gave me and Chole a strange look. 

“I came here to get a short sword for her. A bastard sword for me, as well as two sets of daggers.” I answered. Chloe would excel at the short sword in due time. As for me, I used a bastard sword to cleave my enemies. And when I could not swing it around, I would use daggers. The reason why I took up such a large sword was because my race changed, I guess you could call it. I preferred to call it dragon kin, but who knows exactly what it was. However, the change in my genetics actually caused my strength to soar. While right now, I would not be able to swing anything with practice. I figure I can build my strength up quickly if I follow the same routine as before. 

While there was no Fana yet, there was a mixture of herbs that one could use to actually refine the body. It was not discovered until after fana entered the world. It was only a basic recipe, but everyone had to learn it no matter what. This was because to grow stronger, one needed to reforge their bodies.

“Little lady, I can tell you might think swords are just some kind of toy. And while I am obliged to sell you a sword, a bastard sword is a bit too much for one of your build.” The old man, whose name was Darrel Garnet, gave me a look that basically said do not ridicule my family’s wares.

“Mr. Garnet, I am well aware of what you are talking about. But do not worry. I know what I am doing.” My bright eyes narrowed as I looked at the old man. His gaze locked with mine. I guess, seeing as I did not waver, he sighed and gave up. 

“Then come on. Take a few swings and tell me what feels good.” Darrel got up from his seat and walked over to the short swords first.

“Reni…. Umm….” Chloe seemed confused. I just squeezed her hand and said: “Don’t worry and just trust me. Also, when picking a sword, pick something a bit heavier than you can lift. Trust me.”

“Okay….” Chloe nodded and did not argue. She was also like this. She listened to my every word. Love and complete trust. I can not believe that I let such a cute creature go before. 

“Here, try this one.” Darrel handed a sword to Chloe. She shakingly took it and held it in her hand. She held it up easily. It was light and pretty much made for the current her, but this was not what I wanted.

“Give her one that is two times this weight,” I said without hesitation.

But this seemed to trigger the old man. “Look. This is the only thing she can lift at this time. It is not good to handle something too heavy!”

“Are you the customer, or am I?” I knew this old man’s temper well. If you did not argue back, he would never give up on his stubborn ways.

“You!” The old man wrinkled his brow. “Fine! If you want to buy something heavy, then so be it!” 

He pulled down another sword. This time, when he handed it to Chloe, she could barely keep it above the ground. When the old man saw this, he snorted but did not say anything. I, on the other hand, asked: “Chloe, how is it?”

“I can barely lift it any higher than this,” Chloe replied. She was really struggling.

“Good. Don’t worry. In a few days, it will feel light.” I smiled and looked around a bit. Soon, my eyes fell on a large double-edged bastard sword. “Old Master, let me take that blade up there.” 

“That one!? Little lady, I must warn you, this thing is ten times as heavy as the sword in her hand. In fact, it might be even heavier.” Darrel was looking at me with a strange look. I could only sigh and say.

“It’s fine. I know you do delivery, so you can just deliver all this stuff to my house by tomorrow, right?” I  gave him a knowing look, which made him click his tongue.

“You seem to know this shop well. Yeah, I will have it delivered. Do you want to try to swing it right now?” Darrel asked. He seemed a little mad, but it was just how he was.

“No thanks. I already know this sword will be perfect.” There is a reason why I say this, and that is because this was the very first sword I ever bought. I just never thought I would see it so soon.

“You said you wanted daggers as well?” Darrel changed the subject. 

I nodded, and we went to look for daggers. I got both Chloe and me a set of small daggers we could easily use in desperate situations. I also bought a second short sword as well. This was because I felt I could learn alongside Chloe with it as well.

From the smithy to the clothing store. I spoiled Chloe by buying her enough clothes to wear for an entire month. And a few sets of shoes to match. Chloe’s cheeks were bright red as she hugged my arm as we walked. When she gazed up at me, I could see the pure love in her eyes. We had lunch and dinner outside before finally returning to my house.

“Chloe!” After putting the bags down, I hugged Chloe from behind and buried my face into her neck. “My Chloe smells so good.”

“What are you saying?” Chloe’s lips curled up as she bashfully looked away. I kissed her neck and let her go.

“Come on, let’s make space in my closet for you.” Hand in hand, we walked into my bedroom, where we went to the closet and began moving things around. After a few minutes, we had already hung up all of Cloe’s new clothes and underwear.

“Are you nervous?” I asked teasingly as I held her waist.

“What is there to be nervous about? We have slept together more times than I can count. It’s…. It is just different this time…” Chloe’s eyes locked onto the bed. 

I smiled and kissed her cheek. I was really enjoying the intimate contact. I spun around her and sat on the bed. I then extended my finger and motioned for Chloe to come close. She hesitated for a second before coming to stand in front of me. I took her hands and pulled her forward while falling backward. Looking into her big blue eyes, I grinned and bit my lip as I said: “I do not mind being on the bottom.” 

“You are not playing fair.” Chloe leaned down and kissed my lips. This one kiss was not enough. Soon, we were both lost in a deep kiss. Our tongues are seemingly at war with one another. My hands were on her small butt, gently squeezing it, but she did not seem to mind.

“In a bit. Want to take a bath together?” I asked softly.

“Okay.” Chloe nodded as she pecked my lips. She then laid her head next to mine, still lying half on top of me, and stared into my eyes. “Reni, am I dreaming? Did my love for you make me hallucinate?”

“You are far from dreaming,” I said as I pressed my nose to hers and squeezed her butt. “We are together and will be for a long, long time to come. Tomorrow, I will explain many things to you. I will let you understand why we got the weapons we did. I know you are curious.”

“Mmm… I do not know why you would buy me a weapon of all things.” Chloe’s hand was testing the waters as it slipped under my shirt. I said nothing and let her do as she pleased. Even when her hand reached the edge of my bra, I said nothing and only looked into her eyes. She seemed to gather her courage as her hand finally slipped on top of my bra and onto my breast. There was not much there, but it was enough to play with. 

“Hehe.” I giggled as I kissed Chloe’s lips. “Wait until later.”

“Okay.” Chloe blushed and slipped her hand out from under my shirt. I never knew Chloe would be so straightforward, but I guess when she wanted something, she would go for it. She was willing to confess to me after all. 

I cupped her cheeks and kissed her lips once more before whispering: “We can sleep naked tonight if you want.”

“Mm….” I could see her face heating up even more, but she outright agreed. Not that we have never seen each other naked. Chloe and I have bathed together many times. She never did anything at the time, but now that I think about it, her eyes were always on me.

I figured now was the perfect time to enjoy the moment. After all, soon, we would not even be able to do that. Once monsters begin to appear, until this city is cleared out, we will not have time for intimate relations. It will be survival and nothing else.

We got up and went to watch TV for a bit. I wanted to spend some quality time with Chloe. Every single second is extremely precious now. I must make good use of it all. “Oh right, tomorrow morning we will hit the traditional chinese medicine store down the street. Only after we get what we need can things begin tomorrow.” I hate to say it, but tonight, I guess I will give Chloe pleasure, while tomorrow, I will bring her pain. But this is all for what is to come. We have to be ready no matter what…..
