DUNGEON DEGENERATES LORE 6

The uncovered mysteries of the Celestials lead to a magical arms race. Witches, Wizards, Warlocks, Sorcerers, Shamans, Alchemists & Necromancers all used as much & any of the new information to advance their work. Copies of copies of copies of the secrets of the Celestials circulated amongst occult practitioners. There was a golden age of magic understanding. As the knowledge spread the Holy Order rushed to put the cat back in the bag. They were desperate to keep the Celestial’s secrets to themselves. There was a tremendous, dark shadow cast from the brightness. 

Eleven of these Celestially advanced occultists formed the order of the Himmlische Gewürze. This order constructed a temple in the farmlands that they would devastate & transform into the Badlands. These wizards shared knowledge with each other from the various tomes, tracts, scrolls, pamphlets & other collected written words in their occult library containing more hidden knowledge than anything that would come before or after it. The Himmlische Gewürze used their increasing powers to create a magic sphere called “The Pearl”. 

The Himmlische Gewürze called their temple “Würzige Eimer”. The Würzige Eimer was an enormous pyramid. The Pearl was located at the top floor & could be seen from afar like an unblinking eye. The temple was surrounded by gardens of the plants that they experimented on & strange statues inspired by the visions of extra dimensional beings they came into contact with. Their soldiers stood guard all around & inside the temple to make sure that their works remained uninterrupted. As the Himmlische Gewürze worked their magic, the Holy Order scoured the land for any of these remaining Celestial volumes & killed anyone remotely associated with these works. The Himmlische Gewürze were desperate, the sands of time were dropping away & they still had so much work to do. 

In their haste, the Himmlische Gewürze made numerous mistakes making the Pearl which had grown into a many-layered thing. These mistakes began to multiply on each other & the pearl became unstable, emanating strange lights & sounds, it throbbed & pulsated. The Himmlische Gewürze kept the Pearl hidden behind a cubic curtain as the sight of it started to eat away at the sanity of the beholder. The wizards avoided the Pearl, it made them uncomfortable.

Finally, the inquisitors located the fabled temple found their way past the guards & made their way into the temple. They made their way from floor to floor, killing the Wizards & their cronies on their way to the top. The remaining three tried to move the Pearl onto a waiting palanquin. The Pearl throbbed & pulsated, emanating an ear-shattering tone & then cracked. 

There was a terrible grinding sound & a blinding flash of light. The area for miles around the temple was instantly vaporized, the shockwave knocked down buildings for many more miles around that & the sun was blotted from the sky for a week. The explosion caused destruction throughout the Eastern Provinces & left a huge crack in the land which would be known as the Hell Pit. 

The land quaked & shifted, the Stinkendblüt ran off its course & flooded the south. The whole north & east were shattered, the lands rebelling, buckling & stinking fissures erupted all over, furtherly preventing any plants from growing back in the area. The explosion picked up so much ash that the sun was blotted out until any living plants withered & died. The Würstreich was humbled.
