I have been thinking alot about character & eccentricity & just being an interesting person versus the bland syrup of moral conformity that people want to pour over everything. There is a switch that needs to be made, people should view themselves & others as individuals who they don;t get to interfere with. Morality has nothing to do with it. It’s about being left alone. I’ve seen this historically come from the right but the baton was passed to the left in the late 90s. It’s probably some mass cultural thing that I honestly can’t understand but it’s real. I believe that everyone has the freedom to do their life as is, or as part of their familial unit dictates (families are teams) but that freedom ends where the next person begins. This is so unquestionable to me as to be insane that anyone doubts it. Within this individual island there is so much room to move, there is so much room to develop as a person. There are specific ways the individual gains character & certain tightropes one must traverse. There is balancing the individual versus the group, & remembering that the group has a distinct function that has evolved over millions of years. Being able to exist in the group means survival. Still, the group has to understand & have a role for its shamans, witch doctors, artists, lunatics & whoever. There is a healthy relationship that can form. It’s easy to think otherwise with our society so fractured, it took me a long time to realize that I had a distinct role in society as an artist & the people who stood against me growing up didn’t actually understand how society was supposed to work. The group frequently forgets that it doesn’t just exist for itself but for this constant state of flux between itself & the individuals. Some sort of wise council needs to be constantly consulted. Of course things are all more complicated than this on the ground, but these steps need to be made & laid out clearly. Society is broken, people are acting like we are at ground zero, so I need to explain what it is. My case is for the inherent value of the individual & the group that is made up out of those individuals & to understand the division inherent in that relationship.
