The land needs us. Reality needs us. We went to Mount Hood yesterday, it’s a beautiful area but it reminded me that we have to be gardeners of the places we call home. Places that have been allowed the long process of rewilding are one thing, but allowing our cities to go to seed is a waste. Keeping things orderly, trimming weeds, sweeping streets, picking up trash, painting walls, it ultimately doesn’t cost that much or take that much time or energy but people have been trained to expect the instantaneous change of the cyber world. Not the meditative slower change of the real world. There’s not an overt visual decay in the cyber world, it’s more covert, more behind the scenes, it also happens in you. When you take care of reality, your body & mind respond, other people respond, it builds on itself.
