I listen to a lot of different opinions about how society should work. From deep philosophy of the ancients, to secret societies using occult knowledge to politicians fishing for votes. A lot of these opinions are made by people commenting on the statements of said politicians or philosophers. My opinion in general is that society should work. I don’t want politicians & bureaucrats dealing with anything besides competently solving problems. One of those problems is that people have strong, opposing viewpoints, religions, whatever. I have to exist in whatever system is being backed at whatever time, I’ve never had a choice about that. I believe that humanity is a reason unto itself, & that society should serve everybody. Society should be like a smoothly running bus. It should arrive on time, people mind their own business & use it when they need to. The bus driver just drives & doesn’t get into accidents. I have stripped away my political beliefs over time because they didn’t seem to benefit me. They just got in the way. The way things should work expands like a fractal going into minute details. Every time election season is upon us I beat the same drum. The president should be a functionary, a CEO, a figurehead, a representative, someone who at least appears to watch out for the people, for the country. When you have a country as big & powerful as the USA that has held its power in a world that has as much intrigue & scheming as anything, you must do terrible things to hold that power. That is the big contradiction of America, people don’t want to acknowledge the terrible things done in their name, they don’t want their politicians to reflect that Machiavellian impetus. They want to see their president as Superman or Mister Rogers or some other fictional character for children. In reality their leaders are more like butchers. Most people like meat. Most people don’t want to know how it gets to the table.
